Dan "Bullet Boy" Cain and his club, Bullet Creek Choppers and Rods, took a huge chance and hosted their first ever car show on April 30th just outside of Maryville, Tn. The Rat Rod Rumble at 411 Dragway was billed as vintage drags with "old school" flagman start. Along with a pre-1970 only car show and a relaxed lawn chair setting, it sounded like a winner from the start. Helped along the way with a much anticipated showdown between the Greazy Hubcapz and the Poor Boys hyped heavily on the H.A.M.B.. One thing you never plan on is rain and despite all the hype leading up to the show, the rain just wouldn't go away. A couple of us Poor Boys met up with the Greazys at Rich "Ratster" Dreiling's pad and decided we'd leave the switchblade combs at the house and call a truce. With a convoy of 12 hot rods we headed out to the strip. This is beautiful country and I hope we can make the trip again someday when we're not so rushed to be somewhere. Once there, it looked like we might sneak in a day with out getting wet, but just as soon as I drug the camera out it began to drizzle. I'd carry the camera back to the car and it would stop. Get it back out and it would drizzle. After four or five tries, I finally got the bright idea to get out the umbrella and take pictures anyway. Just as soon as I got to the far end of the parking lot the bottom fell out. Even with the rain, cars were still piling into the show. The final tally was just over 50 cars. it was a great day to meet new people and spend time with old friends. Hope to see everyone back next year!
