"The true meaning of Veterans Day sometimes gets lost in the parades and other hoopla, but the folks in Small Town America really focus on the sacrifices that our veterans have made for us all. Bastrop, Texas is one of those small towns that honors it's vets and this year they combined with The Bastrop Area Cruisers car club and the Downtown Merchants Association to put on a Veterans Day Celebration that was as good as you will find! The car show drew over 160 entries (not bad for a first time show!) and downtown Bastrop was blocked off and filled with fine cars, great food and vendors of all sorts of unique wares. They had live music going all day, culminating in a street dance with Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88's providing the fine 50's music. The car guys were excited over the TALL trophies and CASH awards, and the competition was very close in all categories. The noon ceremony to honor Veterans was enough to bring out the tears from even the tough guys in the crowd and made ya proud to be American!! Thanks a lot Bastrop."
