First it was too much rain late into the cruising year...and now it's too much heat! Seems like we're never happy, but we drive 'em anyway. We went to the Capital Cities 13th Annual Mopar Day in the Park in Sacramento on Saturday, June 24th. Depending on who you talked to, it was anywhere from 100 to 106 in the shade at Hagan Park (actually located in Rancho Cordova). In reality, the temp was probably somewhere in between. Despite the heat, nearly 400 mostly hot "Mopars" as well as a good number of "cousin cars" showed up and there were many, many awards given out for some gorgeous automobiles from radical hot rods to classic "K" cars. Of special note, my regular cruising partner Guy Boardman, did quite well scoring a second place trophy in the truck class and then his '48 Willys Jeepster was also picked to receive the special trophy award of distinction from the Sacramento District office of the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
