We had the good fortune yesterday, of being within a short drive of one of the pit stops on the National Guard 2006 Great Race course. So we took advantage of a great photo opportunity in 96-100 heat at the segment 13 afternoon pit stop in the downtown area of Winters, CA. Nearly 120 great classic and antique cars were entered in the race that started in Philadelphia, PA. on June 24th and will finish today (Saturday, July 8), on Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael, CA. which is the site where George Lucas filmed his 1973 hit movie American Graffiti. We were told that there were 90 some odd cars still running in the race at segment 13. The race has posted a total cash purse of $270,000, with $100,000 going to the Grand Champions. Of special note is that Jack Rouch of NASCAR Rouch Racing, has been riding in one of his three entries since the Colorado segment. Unfortunately, we didn't spot him, but he was said to be "here somewhere".
