"Texas is a state that is jam packed with history....whether it be history of the early Spanish Explorers, the first settlers, the War with Mexico, or some of the latter day achievements of Texans throughout the world, history is everywhere. This past weekend saw the local gear heads getting involved in history when a tradition in the making took place......The Riley's Tavern Car Show. Riley's Tavern is located midway between Austin and San Antonio and has a place in the history books since it was the first licensed tavern to open in Texas after Prohibition. A minor distinction to be sure, but a first nonetheless. The gathering keeps on growing with about 50-60 fine Central Texas rides showing up through the course of the day. There was fine Bar-B-Q, horseshoe tournaments, Live music, plenty of shade to enjoy a cold one, and lots of tire kickin'.  I enjoy the giant shows like the NSRA Nats and the Good Guys, but they really don't compare to the laid back atmosphere of a good ol' country get together."
