Top of Texas 3rd Annual Wheels Xtravaganza was presented to record crowd at the Tradewind Airport Saturday, May 13, 2006. The AMARILLO AREA CORVETTE CLUB reached across the city to invite the Brown Impressions lowrider club and BACA, Bikers Against Child Abuse, to display their vehicles, along with tricked out bicycles to the general public for a great show all day Saturday, May 13. Over 22 lowriders, 56 motorcycles and total representation of the 150-member Corvette Club amazed the fans with every year, color, and detailed version of the corvette imaginable. The airstrip was used for time runs, drag bikes, competition and just old fashion excitement.

Even Colonel Glen Larson has his classic car auction spaced in the activities to give everyone something to do for the day.

Serving over 7 local charities, this joint effort combined its talents to the benefit of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle. Thanks to the efforts of Becky Houghton, as Publicity Chairperson and all the members of the exhibiting clubs, the event was totally organized and well run.

With over 300 show vehicles proudly displayed, this is one of the most popular shows in the Panhandle. Hats off to the Amarillo Corvette Club for another special event. Looking forward to next years surprise. Plus later this year they will host a cruise down Polk Street, one of the main streets of Amarillo. The street will be blocked off and the style of the 50s will once again prevail in this wonderful West Texas town full of great memories and tradition along with lots of classics, hot rods, antiques, and of course corvettes and yes the largest population per capita of Harleys in the country.

Amarillo has 18 active car clubs and an antique truck club that all work together to support monthly cruises, individual car shows and one tremendous joint effort mega car show in the Amarillo Civic Center which generally contributes over $50,000 every year to the local Make A Wish Foundation.
