My son myself and my best friend Jim (his first time at the show) really had a great time. People who attended the show could not be better folks – lots of Canadians and my American brethren were just wonderful. I love chatting with these people who bring their fine prizes to the show.
One man in particular really touched my heart – he had magnificent 59 Black convertible Olds with a flaming paint job. This poor man had lost his voice box and could not communicate with me when I asked his permission to take a picture of his car, but I could see he was full of pride that he had his car at the show. Later on at night I spotted him in the cruise. He was beaming ear to ear and had a pair of sunglasses on that had those strobe mini lights on the side frame which were adding to his display. There he was – he was part of the show (parade) and it was loud and clear to me that he was having a “Blast” and was so happy to be part of it. This showed me what a wonderful Car show this truly was – To me it is the Best. My friend Jim being there for the first time was blown away.
I visit many many Car shows – Cruiser nights and I see and talk to all the proud car owners and people just walking around the show who all have one thing in common, they all love older American made cars – Be it a Muscle – Custom – restored – or an original car that has been in their family. My observation is this – This is the last great generation of people who really love this country and are proud of the products that were made here. Ask any of them and they will swear that these cars are the best – The envy of the world. When these fine folks – me included go up to the big sky drive Inn in the sky, America will never be the same. Can’t wait till next year – God willing I’ll be there again loving it.
