The National Street Rod Association (NSRA) hosts an appreciation day at various locations across the United States. In Southern California this event is held annually at California Car Cover in Chatsworth, California. The event is free for the NSRA members and includes a great barbecue lunch and a 23 point safety inspection; California Car Cover provides a great venue, a substantial amount of raffle prizes and a lot of hard effort in planning the event here in Southern California. My friends and I arrived at 6:15 A.M., just ahead of the crowd; the weather was cool and overcast, but by 10 A.M. the weather turned warm. Each year this event grows larger, and this year the car count was well over 500 and covered one square mile. As you’ll see from the pictures, there was a diversity of cars, something for everyone, and some real engineering master pieces were present. Leon Kaplan (Mr. Motorman on radio KABC 710) broadcast his program live from the show and Jay Leno showed up in a very unique (and monstrous) vehicle. We had a great time and are looking forward to next years’ show…enjoy the pictures.
