John Force’s 10th Annual Holiday Car Show in Yorba Linda, CA was one of the best one-day shows we’ve ever participated in. Bob Edmonds, Dennis Incardone and I drove down trouble free to Southern California (nearly 500 miles) in Bob’s pristine ‘55 Chevy Panel Truck. 14 time NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force threw open the doors to his museum and race shop and 1,000 beautiful cars showed up for the day’s festivities. Believe me, there were cars everywhere! Two huge In & Out Burger trucks showed up to cook nearly 2,000 burgers for spectators and participants. The highlight for me was to visit the shop and museum and particularly the memorial to Eric Medlen who perished from injuries sustained while testing his funny car on March 23 at the Gainsville Drag Strip in Florida.
As most will recall, John is still mending from his terrible accident while racing Kenny Bernstein about 11 weeks ago in Dallas, Texas. However, all the Force racing team drivers, including John were signing autographs and chatting with everyone. A great day and a tip of the hat to John and his staff and volunteers who put on one heck of an event that benefited the California Highway Patrol’s “ CHiP’s for Kids” Toy drive.
