leadership of the hosting car club, Oldskool 66 Cruzers, SoCal.; they’d been planning the car show for nearly a year….it really showed. Parking was a breeze; they had food vendors, a ton of raffle items and a great DJ whose tunes could be heard throughout the show area. How’s this for something different? Instead of leaving the trophy awards for the end of the show they gave them out in groups of five every hour! Instead of having the trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place within categories they were more specialized, such as “Best Topless”, “Lil Deuce Coupe”, “She’s Real Fine, My 409”, etc. Raffle items, in groups of 10 were given out every half hour on the hour! The four most prestigious trophies were given out at the end of the car show, along with the three largest raffle items and the 50-50 drawing. There was even a celebrity sighting with the arrival of Jay Leno in one of his fabulous cars! The car show ended at exactly 2:30, just as planned! Not bad for a 1st car show….I can’t wait for next years’ show….hope to see you there |
