Buckets at the Beach
Whangamata Memorial Hall
Whangamata, New Zealand
December 29-31, 2007
Pictures By Noddy Watts

I live in a busy summer resort on the East Coast of New Zealand - some may know it from the Beach Hop www.beachhop.co.nz.

We decided to try a small Hot Rod Show in the community hall over the summer Christmas/New Year period while the holiday makers are here. It'll be an annual event with a different theme each year - this time was "Buckets at the Beach" and featured New Zealand's top T Buckets. All up we had 18 cars on display inside the hall with many more outside. Those inside were up for $500 cash for People's Choice and Best Display. The cars were spaced with plenty of room to view. We broke even before Noon on the 2nd day with proceeds going to the local Kindergarten....Noddy Watts

Another famous New Zealand T Bucket - Terry Furness built this back in the late 60s, sold it, then brought it back and now enjoys his retirement with it.

John Reid is one of NZ's best Rod Builders. He started with this T Bucketback in the late 60s. Starry Malcolm and Buck Rodgers are restoring it back to its former glory.

Close up of Paul Anderson's twin supercharged Chev engine. He drove the car over 2 hours to get to the show. Note there are 70+ skulls on the car!

Thank you Noddy for the pictures.
