Welcome to the Grand National Roadster Show, the longest running indoor car show in the world. Known originally as the Oakland Roadster Show, it was originally hosted at the Oakland Coliseum in California. Five years ago it relocated to the Los Angeles Fairgrounds in Pomona, California. Attendance has grown from 25,000 in 2002 in San Mateo to 45,000 last year. With over 600 cars on display, 100 motorcycles, a model car contest, vendors, live music, a pin-stripers reunion and contest there was plenty to see. Where else would you see drag racing vehicles and a “hot rod” tractor in the same show? How about stars from American Graffiti, the Munster’s, Billy Gibbons, George Barris, and Troy Trepanier in the same show. Oh, and our very own HotRodHotline booth was there as well, with Jack and Maryann in attendance! There was something for everyone and after a week long deluge of rain the warm sunny weather on Saturday was a pleasant and welcome surprise, contrasted by the snow on the nearby mountains. With next year marking the 60th anniversary of the Grand National Roadster Show they are planning on amassing every AMBR winner to date….you should mark your calendar and plan on attending. See you there!
