6th Annual Arlington Drag Strip Reunion & Car Show Arlington, Wa Sept. 12, 2009 Pictures By Brian Curtis
For an old racer, a bit of heaven still exists, each year at the Arlington, WA. airport where the reunion takes place. There’s hundreds of cars in the car show and vendors lined up to sell their wares, but
Brian
the attraction is those nostalgia machines that raced there so many years ago.
There were dozens of the old front engine dragsters, straight axle gassers, modified wheelbase cars and race cars of every color lined up along the runway and in the field adjacent to the area that was used as the pits. They did the cackle-fest twice during the day. The ground shook, and crowd cheered as each car was fired up and run. A line of gassers was featured for a photo op and under
the perfect sunny skies, they stood out and shone.
The show and shine featured every rodders dream car and every one was special in it’s own way. What a great day and I for one am looking forward to next year! I had not been at the strip since 1963, so it was a real treat to see the cars again and meet folks who were there way back and still in the game.
