The 2009 Texas Gulf Coast outdoor car show season is off and running and as always, it begins in late March with the Joy Ride in Freeport, Texas. Although there are a couple of traditional shows (rat rods) the two weeks prior, most car enthusiasts in the area consider the Freeport Joy Ride as the official “Opening Day” and they all come out after enduring the long winter to celebrate. Old friends make new friends and new cars are debuted along with familiar rides, some with minor changes and some with major.
Freeport is a coastal town fifty miles south of Houston, so brisk winds swept across Freeport Municipal Park all day, but since it was a nice, sunny day, no one complained.
Now that the outdoor car show season has started here in Houston and all over the country, keep checking back for all the great HotRodHotLine car show coverage. I’ll tell you this much, the Houston area car show schedule in April is jam packed so again, please check back.
