The 'meetings', as such, are held at John's house here in Cape Coral, Florida, every Friday at noon. He and helpers serve up dogs 'n chili plus out-of-this-world chicken soup, made by John's wife Cathy. The Hot Chili Rods is a very unique Club. We have at the moment about 155 unofficial members. I say "unofficial", because there are no application forms, no dues, no officers, no minutes, no rules, regulations, or requirements, other than you have to be sponsored by a member ( and pass a waterboarding initiation by John, which really isn't so bad.....naw; only kidding about the initiation ! )
What makes Hot Chili Rods so unique, is that it's strength and success is all voluntary ( vs. a typical structured/required participation club). We raise thousands of dollars that is all donated to different local charities. We do this mainly by winning cash prizes for "Highest Club Participation" at car shows all over SW FL. Plus; we put on a Cruise Night/Car Show weekly with 50/50's, drawings, etc. We have Club shirts, bumper plaques, etc. And we have our own web site.... www.hotchilirods.com which we encourage HotRodHotLine members to visit to link to thousands of car pics.
The best part is that the Club's informality and comraderie, creates it's strength. That, and a core group headed by John Cassetta, who are the 'point of the arrow', that keeps us aiming in the right direction.
