Who’da thought Pep Boys would open a “Speed Shop”!! Today at their first store in Los Angeles on Washington Blvd they had the Grand Opening of Pep Boy's first-ever dedicated “Speed Shop” in downtown Los Angeles. Manny, Moe, and Jack are combining the old-time feel of a traditional speed shop with the latest in performance products and accessories. A large section of their store has several displays and rows of shelves full of performance products. Alex Virula, Speed Shop Manager, says possibly two more Pep Boys in So Cal will have the “Speed Shop”. Some of the brands that will be represented are Edelbrock, Auto Meter, Accel, ARP, Holley, K & N, B & M, Flowmaster, Hedman, NOS Systems, Eibach, Vortech, Mr. Gasket Products, MSD, Meguiar’s and many more.

Enthusiasts with muscle cars and hot rods to sport compacts and imports to trucks and off-roaders will find their parts here. The collection of cars on display ranged from sand buggy’s to low riders. Vendors dominated the parking lot, emphasizing all the performance products being offered in the new “Speed Shop”. George Barris, Barry Meguiar, Casper Canul and Gale Banks were just some of the motorsports celebrities on-hand to meet and greet show goers. Thanks to Pep Boys for the free food!

The burnout contest created a lot of crowd excitement. The 6 contestants included 2 lowriders and a rotary engined Mazda, they all left their mark. Mark Restivo took home the honors with his ’69 Chevy Camaro RS with 427 ci power.

Thanks for the Show!
