Because this show is near Halloween, some of the participants wore costumes or decorated their hot rod. This theme and the Friday night cruising adds a little twist to this fun run. The weather for the event cooperated and we had mild, sunny days. Over 600 cars came from as far away as Nevada, Northern California and Arizona. Some hot rodders took some extra time to enjoy the other attractions the Temecula area offers.
The promoter of this event, P & R Foundation, is a non-profit corporation that supports various charities in the Temecula Valley. Ray Waite (event announcer) and Randy Haapala lead the Foundation’s support of charitable events. Without the support of the Drifters Car Club, this car show would not be this good.
As usual, Front Street was covered with an eclectic bunch of hot rods & people. Thanks to the large crowd, the interesting shops that line both sides of Front Street were doing a booming business. There was no shortage of good eats, to feed the hungry crowd, with food ranging from BBQ’d turkey legs to homemade tamales. After the huge Raffle, the awards ceremony included 70 winners. A good time was had by all and, as always, we look forward to next year’s event.
