Temperatures were in the high 70’s, about 15-20 degrees cooler than down the hill, at the 21st annual Big Bear Fun Run on August 14 & 15 in Big Bear Village, Calif. The sky was blue and only some of the cars were “hot”. At over 7,000 feet elevation not only does your body feel the thin air but so does the Hot Rod.  Hosted by the very capable “Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club”, the event went smoothly. On Saturday, as usual, over 500 quality Hot Rods were treated to their own (tight) parking space in the village. Very nice cars that you don’t normally see come from as far away as Nevada and Arizona. At the end of the day all the hot rods line up for the most amazing hot rod experience I have ever been a part of: a beautiful drive around Big Bear Lake! The drive was more like a parade of cars in front of hundreds of locals who came out to cheer for all the cars as though each one was the winner. Even people in boats on the lake stopped to wave. The “Fun Run” ended Sunday with a special “drive thru” awards ceremony for over seventy winners. The village has quite an interesting array of shops and restaurants so there was good shopping and (some) good food for all.  For information on Fun Run 2011, contact BBLACC at PO Box 6311, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315.

Thanks for the Show!!
