Old Town Front Street Temecula was the home to the 25th Annual Temecula Spring Rod Run. The weather for the event cooperated and we had mild, sunny days. Over 600 cars came from as far away as Nevada, Northern California and Arizona. Some hot rodders took some extra time to enjoy the other attractions the Temecula area offers.

The promoter of this event, P & R Foundation, is a non-profit corporation that supports various charities in the Temecula Valley. Ray Waite (event announcer) and Randy Haapala lead the Foundation’s support of charitable events. Without the support of the Drifters Car Club, this car show would not be this good.

As usual, Front Street was covered with an eclectic bunch of hot rods & people. Thanks to the large crowd, the interesting shops that line both sides of Front Street were doing a booming business. There was no shortage of good eats, to feed the hungry crowd, with food ranging from BBQ’d turkey legs to homemade tamales. After the huge Raffle, the awards ceremony included 70 winners. A good time was had by all and, as always, we look forward to next year’s event.

A very subtly customized ’56 Lincoln Capri. Nice scallops and the 368 Ford “Y”block engine is very detailed. Jerry “Ski” from Torrance, CA. is the proud owner.

Standing next to his VERY original ’56 Chevy convertible is Bob Romeo of Ramona, CA. As it says on his story board, “To preserve this era, I’ve kept this car as original as it was when it rolled off the assembly line in Norwood, Ohio in May of 1956.”

“Backdraft” is this very stylish ’40 Buick that was used on the event “T” shirt. Owners Jerry & Suzanne Macenas prefer the color on the car as apposed to the colors used on the “T”shirt!

This sleek ’46 Buick Sedanette backs some Chevy muscle under the hood. Does owner Bruce Manchan have to remove the hood to change the left side spark plugs?
