The 4th Corner Elites of Bellingham have hosted the Project Santa Claus event for 22 years, raising mega thousands of dollars for the local charity. The Whatcom County Sherriff’s Dept., and other local agencies collect toys for the under privileged children and ensure they get something for Christmas. This year they have a list of more than 150 families in need.
During the event season, the local car clubs set aside funds to contribute to the final run of the year. This year the weather prevented a large turnout but still the Elites were able to present a check for $5000.00 to the Sherriff’s Dept.
On November 13th we gathered in the Costco parking lot near Starbucks and formed up for the run to the Whatcom County Courthouse. The parade of cool cars, escorted by the Sherriff’s with lights flashing attracted a great crowd of spectators, stopped in traffic on one of our major thoroughfares. Once at the Courthouse, the cars lined the surrounding streets for a show while enjoying coffee, cocoa and cookies in the main lobby. The rodders brought a toy in lieu of an entry fee and donated towards the huge raffle that contributed to the events donation.
A big hearty thanks to the 4th Corner Elites for their continuing charitable contribution and to all the folks who contributed throughout the year a big THANK YOU! Brian
