Blue skies on Friday morning convinced me that the hour and a half drive from New London to Monroe, CT in Friday afternoon traffic would be a worthwhile trip. It turned out that my guess was right, as the cars that showed up were absolutely great. Although this cruise-in has a 1978 model year cutoff, the parking area became crowded early in the evening, with cars wrapping around the backside of the shopping center buildings. As an added bonus, I had the good fortune to visit with one of my all-time favorite car guys, 89-year-old WWII veteran Frank Scaduto, looking as sharp as ever in his ’36 Ford cabriolet. More information about the Classic Nights Car Club, their weekly cruise-in, and their annual car show can be found at www.classicnights.com. I hope you enjoy the photos of some of the fine cars in attendance on August 12.
Best wishes, Bob Warenda
