27th SHOW ANOTHER SUCCESS The Citrus County Cruisers held their 27th annual Manatee Car & Truck Show in Crystal River Sunday hosting 164 anxious participants. All cast wary eyes at the weather as promises of 60% rain gave way finally to periods of actual Florida sunshine that encouraged hoards of eager viewers and gave them the opportunity to see so many fine cars. The parking lot was filled with beautiful examples of restored vehicles as well as street rods, foreign cars, rat rods, and customs, all to the delight of an appreciative audience of eager spectators. Dan Bendel, show chairman and Roy Bischoff, co-chair were more than pleased at the efforts of the over 200 member club and friends whose efforts made the show a grand success. Special THANKS were extended to Steve Lamb, owner of Crystal Chevrolet, whose generous efforts and assistance helped make the show the success it is by granting the use of all his facilities and parking areas. Fifty awards were given at 3 PM to the appreciative exhibitors as other drawings were also announced such as the drawing for a free new crate motor or $2,000 cash raffle, the 50-50 that this year generated over $550 to the winners (!) and nearly 100 other drawings for prizes that make so many happy. Then came the "Best Of" awards followed by the top award..... the BEST OF SHOW...... and the judges had a hard time selecting from among the many close entries...... with the final nod going to a '34 Plymouth in gleaming red paint proudly displayed by owner Carol Green of Lecanto, Florida. ( see photo of her next to the car ). Club president Jim Moran advised all that plans are already underway for the 28th running of the show to be held the first Sunday of March, 2012
