Thanks To Mike Levy We Get To Re-Visit Our Favorite Place.. The Pomona Swap Meet ! This was the April 22, 2001 meet
The Pomona Swap Meet is at least a 30 year tradition in Southern California.
It's held almost every month at the Los Angeles Country Fairgrounds in Pomona--
which is also the site of the Winston Drags and many other momentous events !
This swap meet really takes in everything. They have 100's of vehicles for sale _ there is
at least an acre of Corvettes, plus all the rest. They have the swapping sections
divided up by Makes--There's Chevy Row, Fords, VW's etc because it would be
impossible to find what you were looking for if you had to hunt through the whole meet.
They say that if you walked every row it would total over 35 miles ! The whole thing
starts with the Set up day on Saturday and only the vendors can get in on Saturday--but there
is a considerable amount of selling and buying going on the whole day and through the night too. Then on Sunday at 5am the public gets in--the Freeway offramp is backed up with all of the Car Guys--each with a mission of their own.. That Part That They JUST Have to Have ! The really funny thing is that by 2:00 on Sunday afternoon the place starts to empty out at a fevered pitch. And by 3:00 there's virtually no one there ! It's a Short But FURIOUS buying frenzy !
Here's a good looking '56 Chev
There are always lots of 50's Chevs at Pomona these days.
In Case You Can't Read It--The sticker on this car is $3728.
This Old BMW Isetta would be a scary ride in LA traffic !
Beamers have come a long way haven't they !
This C5 Vette stood out in the crowd of Vettes !
