Description:
Borg-Warner T86E-1A 3 Speed Transmission with R10B Overdrive.
I have pictures of all gears on the cluster / countershaft and upper gears for anyone that needs them. Reach out to me for additional pictures.
10 spline 1-1/8 input shaft by 6-1/4" long from face of mounting surface to bellhousing
6" horizontal by 5-3/4" vertical bolt pattern for the trans to bellhousing.
Pilot bearing shaft diameter 5/8"
Overall length from bellhousing mating surface to end of U-joint flange is 20-3/4"
Rear U-joint flange takes a 1310 series U-joint, 3.2" inside measurement between the nubs that hold the clips in place and 1.062 diameter caps.
It will need the synchronizer keys, one is worn, one is missing. But everything else visible with the top cover removed looks great.
According to Google, these came in Studebaker V-8s mid to late 1950s.
56/57 Nash Ambassador and Hudson Hornet V8
57-60 Rambler Rebel and Ambassador V8
55-58 Studebaker President and Commander V8
And Packard shared this toward the end of the Studebaker / Packard era for the V8 Models 55-56.
The Ford Borg-Warner T10 and Toploader manual shared the front mounting pattern of this as well and these transmissions can be used to have an overdrive in an old vehicle.
The T86-1A is the heavy duty version of the 3 speed transmission of the Borg Warner series for that era.
Sold As Is, examine all the pictures of this transmission to understand what you will receive.
Due to the high cost of the shipping, I recommend you pick this up. I am in North Alabama.
However, as you can see, I have a sturdy wooden box ready to ship and it will be wrapped in a plastic bag such that the small amount of gear oil remaining doesn't contaminate anything.
To calculate shipping, the box weighs 130 lbs, 31" long by 16" wide by 12" tall and the zip code is 35750
