This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Convertible has one of the best color combos around, and it has a terrific classic driving attitude. So if you've been looking for the ideal V8 drop-top cruiser, it's time to get to know this Malibu.

We always love seeing '64 Chevelles, because this is the inaugural year that launched the legend. It only gets better when you have the top echelon, a premium Malibu in convertible form. These helped signal a new era in car design where crisp and confident design lines were the center of the attraction. And the best flair was in unique details, like the way the rear fenders have a kick-up to add emphasis to where the power meets the pavement in this rear-wheel-drive Chevy. This example looks good with its clean body lines, good chrome, and a sunshine-ready gloss coming off the factory-correct Ermine White. Overall, what we like about this car is that it's attractive and absolutely vintage, but it never looks/feels like a museum piece. Instead, it's a driver's car with the right kind of feel where you'll never hesitate to hit the road just for fun.

The white vinyl soft top has the right premium sense of style you'd want on a Malibu. But this one really looks best when you take it down. The red seems to radiate from within this white car thanks to a more recent investment in keeping the upholstery bright. Two wide rows of bench seats make it easy for everyone to spread out, and so this is great for everything from ice cream runs to when a local club turns a parking lot into a drive-in. And you really will be looking for drive-ins, car-hops, and cruise-ins because the feeling inside turns back the clock every time you grab the thin-rimmed classic steering wheel and gaze across the bright dash.

The trim tag tells us this was born a V8 car, and this was born just as the small block was beginning to hit its stride. So it's nice to have an era-correct 283 cubic-inch motor under the hood. The engine bay has a clean and classic look, including the smooth color-matched inner walls, tidy hoses, and Chevrolet script valve covers on the bold orange block. But the upgraded Edelbrock air grabber lets them know that this motor inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor (the stock-style carb and intake also come with the sale.) And the V8 exhales with a sweet tune out of the dual exhaust. This wants you to feel the road like the driver did back in the day, but it makes sure to be an overall easy cruiser with features like a Powerglide automatic transmission and modern Hankook tires.

This is the first-year Chevelle that's a top-tier V8 Malibu drop-top. That makes for a great classic and a great cruiser. Call today!!!
