Description:
INTRODUCTION: Possibly one of one? This non-R/T Charger was ordered with the 383 Magnum engine and the desirable pistol grip 4-speed, making it an incredibly rare combination! It gets even better with factory air conditioning- an uncommon option by itself, but exceptionally rare when paired with a 4-speed. The factory Formal Black paint is one of the most sought after colors, made even more desirable by the popularity of the Fast & Furious Charger. Then there's the factory Burnt Orange interior, a stunning combination I've personally never seen before. While this isn't our typical nut and bolt restored car, it is numbers matching and documented with the original broadcast sheet, fender tag, and matching hidden VINs. It also appears to retain its rock solid original sheet metal. Quite simply, there isn't another one like it to compare against.
EXTERIOR: I have to hand it to this car- it is exceptionally straight. The body is smooth from top to bottom, right down to the rockers, and the panels fit very nicely. It's repainted in its highly desirable factory Formal Black, and the finish is polished to a deep, mirror like gloss. The windshield has been replaced, along with the black vinyl top. The rear bumper has been replated, the front is original. It features the factory luggage rack, (which is documented on the fender tag), along with the pop-up racing style gas cap, driver's remote mirror, hood mounted turn signal indicators, and hideaway headlights. It's sitting on factory road wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra radial tires.
INTERIOR: This is a very rare factory color combination, it was born black with a burnt orange interior! It presents very well and retains its classic muscle car appeal. The headliner, carpet, and dash pad have all been replaced, giving it a fresh, clean appearance. It's a factory tachometer car, and even the factory clock is working. The instrument panel area is very clean, not cut or cracked- the original radio is still in place, adding to its authenticity. The steering wheel is a new reproduction, and of course, the highlight is the iconic pistol grip shifter rising from the floor. The original door panels are wrinkled, the upholstery shows well although it is split on top of the rear seat and the headrests should be replaced.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: There are two very important things going on here: First, it has its original VIN number matching 383-335hp Magnum engine. Second, it's equipped with desirable factory air conditioning. The engine compartment has a very honest, factory appearance with the correct manifolds, air cleaner, valve covers, and other original style components. It's a very solid, clean engine bay that still has its original fender tag securely attached, and the hidden VIN on the core support, important details collectors always like to see.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean, solid, and appears to retain its original quarter panels, complete with the factory undercoating still visible on the inside. The hidden VIN is still on the quarter panel lip too. The weatherstrip and trunk mat have both been replaced. It's also complete with the jack and spare assembly, just the way you like to see it.
UNDERSIDE: What impressed me most about the underneath of this Charger is how rock solid the structure appears to be. I don't see any patchwork or signs of repairs. The floors, inner rockers, frame rails, and even the lower rear quarter sections behind the wheels all appear to be original, still wearing the factory undercoating. The mechanicals have been serviced as needed and the car is in good working order. The dual exhaust has been replaced with the correct factory style system, and the fuel tank was also replaced. Looking up at the engine, you'll find the matching VIN stamped by the oil pan, along with the correct casting numbers and date codes on the block. The original VIN matching four-speed transmission has been rebuilt, and out back is the original 8 3⁄4-inch rear end with 3.23 gears.

If you've been waiting for a truly special Charger, this may be your only chance.
