Description:
The Car
This is a 1991 Jaguar XJS Convertible finished in its original Oyster Beige paint over a Doeskin leather interior, wearing a brown convertible top. It shows 65,032 original miles and presents as a genuinely well-preserved example of one of Jaguar's most iconic grand tourers. A clean Carfax backs up what the car tells you visually - this one has been taken care of.
What It Has
Under the long, sculpted hood sits Jaguar's legendary V12 engine, backed by the smooth automatic transmission the XJS is known for. The convertible top operates as it should - up, down, no issues. Power windows work, gauges are functional, turn signals work. All the things you'd worry about on a 35-year-old British convertible? They're sorted here. The exterior retains its original Oyster Beige paint throughout, and the body is rust-free - a significant achievement on any XJS of this era. The period-correct lattice alloy wheels are present and correct, and the chrome leaper hood ornament and quad round headlights remain intact. Inside, the original Doeskin leather and burl walnut trim are all present. The leather shows honest wear and some cracking consistent with its age and mileage, but the bones are there and the car has clearly never been abused.
What You Should Know
There's no documentation on file - no service records, no receipts. What we can tell you is what the car shows: clean Carfax, original paint, original interior, rust-free body, and a car where everything works the way it should. The seat leather has cracking and wear visible in the photos - we're not hiding it. What you see is what you get, and what you get is a honest, driving-condition XJS with the right engine and the right body style.
The Bigger Picture
The XJS ran for an extraordinary 21 years - 1975 to 1996 - and the convertible body wasn't introduced until 1988. By 1991, Jaguar had worked out most of the early reliability concerns that gave the model its complicated reputation, and the V12 convertible represents the model in its most desirable configuration. Finding one at this mileage, with original paint and interior intact, rust-free, and with everything in working order is genuinely uncommon. Most survivors have either been over-restored, neglected, or modified. This one has simply been preserved.
