Professionally Restored Rust Free
Up for bid is an immaculate & completely rust free 1957 Metropolitan Model 562. The show quality car is equipped with an original 1500cc 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission (believed to be numbers matching). The drivetrain is completely stock (except for a performance carburetor) and has been professionally rebuilt.
Despite being 50+ years old, the vehicle is completely turn key and looks as if it rolled off of the assembly line last week. It has benefited from a professional, multi-year ground up restoration by noted Metropolitan restorer, Dick Crutcher. Over $25K was invested to complete the restoration and no nut or bolt went untouched. The car is truly pristine inside & out.
Mechanically, the engine, transmission & 4.10 high speed rear end run, drive & sound excellent with no functional issues. The odometer presently reads 350, which is believed to represent the vehicle’s mileage since it was overhauled.
Structurally, the car is also in excellent condition, with no history of rust, rot, bondo or collision damage. It is originally an Arizona car, and according to Dick Crutcher, was the most rust-free Metropolitan he had ever seen. The doors, hood & trunk line up and close very nicely. The trunk is actually not original to the car, but was added from a later model during the restoration. Further, the car was repainted & reupholstered as part of the restoration process, however the paint color is not original. It is completely free of dents, dings & scratches.
Ultimately, this is one of the finest examples of a 1957 Metropolitan in existence today. Every nut & bolt on this car was gone through with unparalleled attention to detail, while sparing absolutely no expense. It has been stored year round in a climate controlled environment for the past 25 years & has been driven sparingly. The car cover & battery maintainer for the vehicle will be included for the buyer.
I have provided you with all of the information I have been given on this classic Metropolitan, but feel free to ask questions prior to bidding if something is unclear...as a winning bid on this auction is a binding contract to own this beautiful car. It is being sold AS IS, where is and no warranty is expressed, written, or implied.
