      <title>1968 American Motors AMX</title>
      <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/american_motors/amx/1968/listing/242814</link>
<description>INTRODUCTION: A true American Motors icon, this 1969 AMX delivers bold styling, 390 performance, and a unique two-seat design that sets it apart from the crowd. It's a beautifully preserved example with excellent fit, finish, and attention to detail throughout. This AMX is ready to impress wherever it goes.

EXTERIOR: It has an unmistakable look, with its short wheelbase giving it a compact, aggressive stance. The long hood, fastback profile, and sculpted body lines deliver classic muscle car proportions with a sporty edge. Claimed to retain its original metal, the body is in amazing condition-laser straight with no rust or damage, and the fit is spot-on. It's a factory yellow car, refinished in a richer shade that looks even better, topped with a smooth, high-gloss finish. The white racing stripes really set it off. The chrome and trim add the perfect contrast-the stainless is straight and polished, and the chrome has been redone. The door handles look fresh and it has optional dual mirrors. The windshield appears new, the rear window is one of the best originals you'll find. It sits proudly on chrome Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in reproduction redline tires for the perfect finishing touch.

INTERIOR: The two-seater interior looks practically new. The carpet is fresh and fits beautifully front to back. The dash area is exceptionally clean with no splits in the pad, and it features a factory optional tachometer and AM/FM radio. The door panels and armrests are in great shape. The seats have been re-cushioned and upholstered, and both recline as they should. The plastic trim, headliner, and visors all present very well. The original steering wheel is showing just a couple cracks in the rim. The best feature? The Hurst 4-speed shifter rising from the floor-pure muscle car attitude.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment presents very nicely with a clean painted bay. At the heart of it is the correct 390 rated at 315 horsepower. It's proper with correct components, including valve covers with correct tag and the factory-style air cleaner with snorkel. It's also well equipped with power steering and power brakes, making it a pleasure to drive. Details like the washer fluid bag, Autolite battery topper, hood insulation, and electric wipers (part of the convenience group) are all in place. The 7-blade fan, included with the Go Pack, helps keep the engine running cool.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the trunk presents real well- it's clean and has reproduction weatherstrip, sticker and mat. The car has the convenience group which includes a working trunk light!

UNDERSIDE: It appears to be very solid and well sorted. Our shop has inspected and serviced the car, including underneath. It's equipped with optional front disc brakes, and the emergency brake is properly hooked up and functioning. The steering and suspension have been gone through to ensure it drives tight and confidently. A new dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers gives it a strong, healthy sound. Looking up at the engine, it's clean and detailed, featuring a high-torque starter for reliable cranking. It's paired to a correct 1968 T10 4-speed trans, and out back it retains its 3.15 posi rear end. The floors and frame rails appear rock solid. They've been treated with fresh undercoating, giving the underside a clean, uniform black appearance while adding protection.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.

CONCLUSION: This AMX is a standout example that checks all the boxes-looks, and performance! It's the kind of car that turns heads, sparks conversations, and delivers a driving experience you don't forget.

<description>INTRODUCTION: 1 of 283 Big Bad Green AMXs made! Throw in all the other factory options and this is one extremely rare car. Only 2,530 miles since the detailed rotisserie restoration. $80,000 and 5 years were invested, photos and very detailed receipts are included. Get in, turn the key, have some fun, and look badass!

EXTERIOR: Make a bold statement! The Big Bad Green paint stands out in a crowd on top of being super rare. It was applied with great attention to detail and polished to a slick and shiny reflection. The black stripes are a vinyl decal just like the factory did it. When looking down the side of the laser straight body you'll be satisfied with all the smooth contours and crisp lines. The panels have been painstakingly aligned with good gaps that are well above average. Part of the Big Bad green package are the color matching bumpers and the rear is equipped with bumper guards on this one. The hood with dual bulges and fish gills provides a pleasant, yet aggressive aesthetic. The tail lights appear to have been replaced and look like new. All the brightwork has a glorious shine and the emblems are in great shape. The entire ensemble is rolling on 14" steel wheels were stripped and powder coated in the correct glitter finish, the trim rings and caps were replaced. They are wrapped in reproduction Goodyear Polyglass redline tires.

INTERIOR: Nicely restored and it's a factory leather seat car! The bucket seats were taken down to bare and rebuilt. The springs were blasted and painted, then they were recushioned, and reupholstered including the headrests with genuine leather. The center folding armrest is an extremely practical option. The door panels, watershields and armrests were replaced and the driver side is equipped with a remote mirror. The gauges, steering wheel, 4 speed manual shifter, radio, and climate control all appear to be original but in great shape. The wiring harness was replaced and the clock was rebuilt with quartz movement. It is equipped with a tilt steering column. The sun visors, headliner and carpet have all been replaced. It also has really nice AMX embroided floor mats. Behind the seats has been properly recarpeted and upgraded 5.5" speakers were added. The kick panel lights and clock are also working.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: What a proper looking engine bay! The 390 cubic inch V8 was completely remachined and is making at least 315hp. It is handsomely dressed with a chrome AMX pie tin and chrome valve covers too. Very well equipped with factory air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. The a/c was rebuilt, wiper system was rebuilt. All the hoses and belts have been replaced. The horns and squirters are hooked up plus it even has the original style washer fluid bag. The battery is properly secured and the radiator appears to be rebuilt or replaced. The underside of the body color painted hood is complete with insulation. Additionally the fenderwells and firewall have been painted just like the exterior.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the trunk lid and inside the jamb are painted slick just like the body. The weather stripping was replaced and the trunk light works. Inside had a space saver spare tire on a powder coated rim, inflation canister, and vinyl trunk mat. Under the mat is all rust free solid steel that is painted body color as well.

UNDERSIDE: Rotisserie restored! Solid body colored floorboards! Every detail has been attended to on the underside. The steering system has been rebuilt, and many components were replaced. It is equipped with a sway bar and the front suspension fully restored with new parts including trunnion springs and shocks. The rear suspension was also restored with new leaf springs and shocks too. It has refreshed front disc brakes with new lines and the emergency brake is hooked up too. The dual exhaust system was completely replaced with fresh tubes, mufflers, and polished tips exiting under the rear bumper. The gas tank was also replaced and has new fuel lines front to back. When looking up at the rebuilt engine it is nicely painted metallic blue just like when it left the factory, and the starter was replaced. The four-speed manual transmission was rebuilt by Southern Gear. The driveshaft has been rebuilt and transfers power back to a rebuilt 3.54 Twin Grip rear end.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.

CONCLUSION: This AMX checks all the boxes! It's extremely rare, it's rotisserie restored, it's fully loaded, and it's gorgeous! Not to mention fast and fun!
