The engine is a v8 6.6L pushing around 325 BHP while only weighing 3 thousand pounds, pretty good for a classic in my opinion. This car is almost complete itself. It just needs a little time from someone. It has all parts needed to complete, and has original parts as well. The only thing that you would have to buy is a new paint job and brake pads. The parts purchased for it: New procar seats because the original ones were completely used through. Has mounts with it and are ready to install. JEG Sport Star rims with spacers that, with the right tires, will fill out the wheel well without rubbing. Currently has brand new tires (not even broken in, driven for ten miles) on older aftermarket rims. Smart rearview mirror with backup camera and dashcam that just needs to be wired, comes with a small kit that bypasses having to plug it into the cigarette lighter. All of the panels have been painstakingly aligned and the gaps are spot on throughout. The doors close just like a new car. The power convertible top has been upgraded with black canvas that looks fantastic. There is a blue boot that matches the interior as well when the top is down. INTERIOR: This interior has been completely refinished and looks tremendous! The front bucket seats have been recovered and recushioned and have great spring to them. An original looking Hurst 4 speed shifter proudly sits between the seats. The backseat has also been redone. It has seatbelts front and back. All the door panels have been replaced and the builder reused the very nice looking handles. The carpeting was also replaced and has matching mats. It's equipped with a Bosch triple gauge monitoring the vitals. The lower portion of the dash has been repainted just like the body and the upper portion has an optional dash pad. All the bezels look original but in great shape. A retro stereo fits in the factory hole. A Vintage Air climate control is now in place of the factory unit. All the gauges look original and there are additional indicator lights on the left side. The rearview mirror and sun visors have been replaced as well. The car may be a sleeper but not the steering wheel, its first class with a highly polished wood rim. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is where the cruiser meets the sleeper! Under the hood is a stout 401 Nailhead V8 engine producing 325 horsepower and a monstrous 445 foot pounds of torque. It has been neatly detailed and runs absolutely fantastic. It's equipped with a four barrel carburetor, air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. It still has the factory correct air cleaner with the correct decals as well. Great looking finned aluminum valve covers and matching valley pan. All the hoses and wires have been replaced and routed appropriately. It looks like the radiator is fresh and has been upgraded with an electronic fan, additionally there is a transmission cooler mounted in front of the radiator. The battery is properly secured and has a Delco reproduction topper. The horns and squirters are hooked up and there's even a correct glass GM windshield washer fluid bottle mounted on the fender well. The underside of the hood has been repainted satin black and is complete with insulation. The inside of the fender wells and firewall have neatly been painted satin black and even the factory cowl tag is still in place. It is show quality! TRUNK COMPARTMENT: This trunk has been neatly refinished and has a stock appearance. The underside of the trunk lid and jamb have been painted the same color as the exterior. The weatherstrip and well liner was replaced. The floor pan metal looks solid and is painted with a factory style spatter paint. It is equipped with a rubber mat and a full size spare tire that has a vinyl cover. The convertible top boot is currently being stored in the trunk as well. UNDERSIDE: This car has received a detailed restoration then was maintained as needed since completion. It appears that the steering gearbox and center link have been replaced. The front suspension has been upgraded with tubular upper and lower control arms as well as Gas-A-Just coilover shocks. It has a sway bar as well. The rear suspension also looks great with fresh shocks and springs. It has power brakes that are discs up front and drum in the rear, all the lines have been replaced also. It is equipped with a full dual exhaust system that was replaced during restoration and has Flowmaster mufflers. Looking up at the 401 Nailhead V8 engine everything looks clean and correct. Same thing goes for the Muncie M-21 4-speed manual transmission, it looks like it was serviced and does not have any visible leaks. It has a 10 bolt rear end that was neatly painted black. The floors appear to have been undercoated from the factory and freshened up with black paint. SERVICE: Our professional team of mechanics have inspected this vehicle and replaced the convertible top latch, replaced the driver's door latch, then replaced the front brake hoses and bled the system. It's ready for weekend cruising, local events, or simply enjoying the unmistakable presence of American performance done right. https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/4570-phx/1972-buick-skylark-sun-coupe-restomod Buick Skylark https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/buick/skylark/1966/listing/215010 1966 Buick Skylark GS Hardtop  For consignment, a 1966 Buick Skylark GS with a 401ci V8 that is likely the original engine.  The VIN stamped number is one digit off from the actual VIN and this was likely a production line error.  It was probably built on a Friday.  The automatic transmission was a $245 option in 1966 and the Gran Sport Package was an extra $236.  This car also has power steering,($86), power brakes, ($43), and two tone paint, ($17).  Exterior Two stage Silver Mist on the body is complemented by Regal Black on the roof which is a great design element to pick up the black wheels, faux fender vents, grille, and faux hood scoops.  The handsome lines and vertical fascia of the mid size offerings from GM are exemplified on this car, looking both muscular and at the time, probably run of the mill.  An epic Gran Sport emblem sits to the right on the black band of the tail and the simple taillights contour beautifully to the body lines and subtle angles of the car.  With the red in the GS emblems and that of the taillights, the red double pinstripe that travels the length of the car at the mid panel level is a nice feature.  Flying buttresses on the C-pillar are another feature that makes this car stand out in design.  The paint and metal are very nice on the car with imperfections noted such as bubbling paint and small areas of painted filler that's not smooth, none glaringly obvious.  Interior Black door panels striped with silver trim pieces and wearing a carpeted bottom and black painted top are stylish and neat.  The low back black vinyl bucket seats up front have a stitched pattern on relatively flat surfaces split by a center console while the back bench is robust and clean and accompanied by the door panel design on the walls along with an armrest and ashtrays.  A simple steering wheel with a cross spoke and horn fronts a horizontally displayed speedometer with other square gauge and knobs on a metallic paneled dashboard in clean condition.  An AM radio is embedded in the center and a vertically finned dash welcomes the passenger and reminds them they're in a Skylark GS.  A circular, raised Buick motif fronts the center console which extends rearward to collect the polished shifter in a simple indicator plate which gives way to a center storage compartment sculpted into the console.   Black loop carpet under Buick rubber mats looks clean and so does the gray stitched headliner up above.  The trunk is also clean and lined with a gray rug.  Drivetrain Clean conditions prevail under the hood where we find the correct and possibly numbers matching 401ci V8, (note this engine carries the correct MR stamping code and a partial VIN of 124230 while the vehicle VIN reads 125230), with a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 325 horsepower.  An ST300 2-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear 10 bolt with 2.93 gears.  The car is equipped with power drums in the front and rear.  Undercarriage The belly pans appear to have been undercoated and there's not much surface rust underneath.  One side of the dual exhaust looks newer than the other which is colored by surface rust but intact, and there's a stock muffler on that side and a Flowmaster on the newer run and they exit discreetly before reaching the back bumper.  Some oil is noted on the oil pan and some residual fluid on the transmission pan and there's a bit of grime by the wheels but we've seen worse.  There is some flaking rust around a body mount being the worse of the corrosion.  For suspension, the car comes with coil springs up front and a four link with coil springs in the back and Delco spiral shock absorbers demonstrate more vintage hardware underneath.  Drive-Ability The big V8 cranks to life and a muscle car tone left the tailpipes.  We roll onto the loop and the car tracks straight, brakes well, and has acceleration to spare!  The cabin is a pure time capsule and it's 1966 all over again.  The reverse lights do not light up but everything else functional works.  While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  This well proportioned car might be less common at car shows than Chevelles and GTO's of the era, but that doesn't make it any less cool.  In fact, we think it adds to the desirability.  Clean interior, great color combo, straight body panels and the correct 401ci V8 makes this Buick one for your collection!  Pick this one up and head out the GS Nats in Bowling Green next year!
