This is a convertible built to cover distance comfortably with the top down, not to chase lap times. Underneath, it runs the FE1 touring suspension with four-wheel power disc brakes and ABS. It sits on 17x9.5 styled aluminum wheels wearing P275/40ZR17 tires all around - the square setup, same size front and rear. The equipment list is loaded for the year. Electronic automatic climate control, the electronic instrument cluster, Bose AM/FM stereo with cassette and CD player, six-speaker sound system, power antenna, heated power outside mirrors, six-way power seat adjusters on both the driver and passenger sides, deluxe reclining bucket seats, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and a driver's side airbag. Inside, the dash, console, door panels, and carpet are black, with red leather on the seating surfaces and black bolsters and headrests. Red accent floor mats with the Corvette flag logo finish it off. It's a sharp combination against the black paint and black top. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW The factory RPO list codes this car with a black leather interior (RPO 193). The red leather seating surfaces are an addition, not factory equipment. The work follows the factory panel seams and presents well, but we don't have documentation on when or by whom it was done, and we're not representing it as original. The red floor mats are accessory pieces. The car has 84,837 miles showing. We don't have documentation to verify the mileage, so we're listing it as the odometer reads. This car has the FE1 touring suspension and the 2.59 rear axle, not the Z51 performance package or the performance axle ratio. THE BIGGER PICTURE The C4 Corvette spent a long time as the generation nobody wanted. For twenty-five years these were the cheap Corvettes - the ones you bought when you couldn't afford a C2 or a C3 and didn't want a C5. That's changed. Clean, sorted C4s have been climbing steadily as the people who wanted one in high school reached the age where they can actually buy one, and convertibles have led that move. Within the C4 run, the 1990-1991 cars occupy a sweet spot that's easy to miss. They got the completely redesigned interior that fixed the C4's most criticized feature - the original digital dash gave way to a proper cockpit with analog gauges - and they got the driver's airbag. The 1991 cars added the ZR-1 body updates on top of that. So a 1991 gets you the best version of the L98 platform: the good interior, the good face, the last of the tuned-port engines, and none of the electronic complexity that came later. For someone who wants an open-top American V8 that's genuinely usable, well-supported by parts suppliers, and still affordable relative to almost anything else with a Corvette badge, a 1991 convertible is a strong argument. This very clean well kept Corvette roadster mechanically performs, rides, drives, handles like an almost new '91 Corvette roadster! The red interior is very nice, the top appears original but is in very good shape and condition. The radio works well. The original white paint has a good shine to it, we did add some red stripes to the hood. The 5.7 motor with original fuel injection system performs well after a complete major tune-up. The transmission is also original and shifts very well. The front end suspension is very tight. The disc brake system functions very well. The dash gauges all function, the heat and A/C functions very good. The original soft top is still in very nice condition and there are no water leaks, rips or tears. The red leather interior is extremely nice condition, comfortable and no rips, tears or cracks have been found. The wheels are the original style and show nicely--the 275x40ZRx17 tires are new this past summer. The exhaust has a very nice mellow tone/sound to it. It is a joy to drive and gets lots of attention.
