1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero Rat Rod – This thing breaks necks and gets thumbs up wherever it goes. This is a ground-up build to make the most outrageous and unique rat rod you’ll ever come across. Taken down to a shell and what was left of the frame, a mid-1980’s 460 7.5L V8 was crammed under the hood. Linked to that is a matching C6 transmission and 10.25” Sterling rear end with limited slip 410 gears that support duallies. Wherever possible, all parts used were Blue Oval – 100% Ford. Seats are from a mid-1980’s Mustang, hood and rear fenders are from a mid-1940’s truck, rear tailgate is from a 1959 Ranch Wagon, rear seat is from a 2004 Escape, Smitty Bilt bumpers are from a 1975 Bronco, and even the bed cap is from a 2005 Ranger. New parts: Heddman headers, 3' exhaust with Flowmaster Super 44 Series mufflers Transmission pan, torque converter & flex plate, extended shifter linkage Custom built driveshaft by Idaho Driveline Fuel tank, electric fuel pump & sending unit, fuel lines, filter Transmission oil cooler & lines with electric fan Distributor, coil, plug wires & spark plugs Alternator, voltage regulator, starter & starter solenoid Super Start Platinum battery 750 CCA 860 CA Upper & lower ball joints, upper & lower control arms, strut rods, drag link, inner & outer tie rods, end links, idler arm, bushings, and coil springs Brake master cylinder, booster, reservoir, and stainless steel lines Front 4 to 5-lug disc brake conversion kit by Classic Disc Brakes, shocks, rims & tires Rear brake drums, shoes, cylinders, hardware, emergency brake cables, leaf springs, shocks, tires GPS speedometer (accurate regardless of trans/rear end/tire size combination), tachometer, fuel pressure, fuel level, oil pressure, water temp, voltage gauges Corbeau racing harnesses Cobra CB radio, external PA speaker, dual 8-foot whip antennas 600 watt aircraft landing lights with voltage converter (aka back-up lights) All new wiring wrapped in protective loom, fuse block with indicator

1961 Ford Ranchero

It represents a pivotal model that was the first to bring the "half truck, half car" configuration to fruition, but this 1961 Ford Ranchero Restomod has a lot more going for it than a storied heritage. Dressed in high-impact Purple Metallic paint that really shows well, this is a sharp-looking ride, still in possession of its classic looks while also equipped with some outstanding aftermarket modifications to amplify its curb appeal and equip it with a driving experience that's truly hard to come by. It's fresh off a very well-executed build that's left it with a precise body alignment and crystal-clear glass, and the custom airbrushed "Ranchero" lettering on its tailgate is a great added touch.

The interior has been thoroughly reimagined while still retaining an authentic vintage appearance. Front and center is a plush and comfortable gray vinyl bench seat with contrasting piping, nicely complemented by the darker carpeting that lines the floor below. An aftermarket steering wheel is perched on a tilting column that positions it right where you need it, and the instrument panel just beyond it features an assembly of white-faced AutoMeter gauges encircled by a chrome bezel. The added climate control system ensures that you can enjoy this classic throughout the year, while an AM/FM stereo with an auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity provides all the audio options you need during your journeys.

As striking as it is to simply stare at, this vintage Ford is also configured to offer a great experience behind the wheel. It's powered by a 302-cubic-inch V8 that's equipped with aluminum heads, a roller cam, and roller rockers to minimize performance-sapping friction and is fed via a FiTech electronic fuel injection system perched on an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. The engine pairs with a 4-speed automatic 4R70W transmission with an overdrive gear to keep RPMS down at highway speeds. An aftermarket suspension that includes an RRS coilover up front provides a refined ride while adding precise power rack and pinion steering, while the modified TCI four-link suspension in back teams with a sway bar to properly direct the engine's output to the asphalt while minimizing body roll around corners.
