<description>1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Original 390 Automatic Runs excellent It was used quite often and was well taken care of mechanically.. It has not been driven much in the last couple of years because it now needs new tires, due to age, It is 98% rust free and shows no signs of rust repair. The last time it was painted was 1978. It comes with a good Texas title. It is equipped with power windows factory AM radio and FACTORY Air Conditioning, The belt is still on it and the compressor is free so It probably just needs freon. The power top is currently not working. It has all the correct Sport Roadster emblems and the Roadster cover. Just put a new brake master cylinder in it. <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1962/listing/238374</link>
      <description>1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

For consignment, a 1962 Ford Thunderbird convertible showing 84,738 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car was the recipient of restorative measures over a number of years and receipts dated 1996 to 2017 will accompany the car as documentation of the work.

  Exterior
Having only recently departed from the '50, many early '60's cars ascribed to the more chrome is better ideology and this '62 Thunderbird is fronted by an at once simple and complex fascia with a grille that reminiscent of the '58 Riviera, with rows of individual squares taking up the air intake area and bold chrome borders serving as the frame. In back, a long stretch of straight chrome connects the rocket influenced afterburner tail lights which are also rimmed in the reflective stuff. Viking Blue, a lighter shade of blue, covers the car which in profile, is indeed shaped like a long bullet and the side body molding and decorative trim on the rear quarter panel suggest movement and energy while the fender skirts offer better airflow at speed. The dark blue canvas top is in great shape and sports a large rear plastic window, and the 14-inch chrome wire wheels are in very good condition. Imperfections include cracked paint, chips, as well as pitted and peeling chrome.

  Interior
The attractive door panels with varying linear designs and shades of blue are quintessential 1960's and the mid panel contains electric window switches, surely a luxury in '62. Colors and texture meld seamlessly into the dash where three main gauges intersect dark blue and light blue and chrome knobs on a ribbed panel is pure period. That ribbed panel not only spans the width of the dash, but waterfalls widely onto the center console, interrupted only by the climate panel. Perched up high in the center is an AM/FM/Cassette radio with a contoured backplate, and the blue steering wheel wears a half circle horn ring and while not pristine, the conditions on the dash are certainly show worthy! The blue vinyl buckets in front show some discoloration, probably from exposure to the sun, but the rear seats maintain their uniform light blue coverage. Blue loop carpet covers the floor and plaid mats dress the floor in the trunk which opens in reverse to allow the top to be stowed.

  Drivetrain
Under the hood, which opens in the traditional way, we find a clean 390ci V8, rated at a respectable 300 horsepower and fueled by a single 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic that sends power to the Ford 9" rear and 3.00 gears. Power brakes are supplied and are configured as drums on all four wheels with new wheel cylinders and hoses. We note new belts have been installed on the engine.

  Undercarriage
Clean driver quality underneath with some surface rust, a light film of oil on the transmission pan, but no visible leaks. The dual exhaust hits an H-pipe and then finds stock style mufflers in back which emit a small tailpipe behind the bumper. Suspension is standard here, with coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back.

  Drive-Ability
The lean and low convertibles in Thunderbird form provide the ultimate cruising seating position and ride. With 300 horsepower underfoot, this Thunderbird accelerates like a Peregrine in a dive, and by that we mean quickly. With a long nose in front and flat back behind, it's a little like driving a fancy soap box derby car, only with all of the bells and whistles you could expect in a mid 60's luxury car. And this well sorted car scored 100 on the functionality test as we glided back into the eyrie. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

The 60's Thunderbirds are the unsung heroes of the collector world. Baby birds are iconic classics, and modern birds provide, well, modernity. But the unique style and profile of birds like this 1962 are more frequently making "best bet" lists throughout the collector market and the more distance we gain from that period of time, the cooler these cars look! Be sure to check out this Viking Blue example soon.

<description>Please visit www.Survivor-Cars.com for additional photos, information, and a video. This vehicle is available for viewing by appointment only in our Tampa Showroom. Please call us to schedule an appointment.

Ford's glamorous 1962 Thunderbird was a star at birth. While at the peak of his popularity in the Fall of 1961, Elvis Presley purchased one of and an early Sports Roadster was featured on an episode of "The Twilight Zone."

This particular Thunderbird definitely looks good enough to be a TV star with its correct Rangoon Red paint and brand new white convertible top. All of the chrome and brightwork show well and the car is a real head turner!

Open up the driver's door and you will see a nice honest red vinyl interior with bucket seats and a beautiful center console. You can get in and out with ease thanks to a tilt-away steering column, and have room for the rest of the family thanks to a roomy rear seat!

Under the hood lies a healthy 390 CID V8 engine, just the way it left the factory. All of the gear changes are done for you courtesy of the Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed automatic transmission. Our Thunderbird would make a great driver thanks to power steering, power brakes, and a power convertible top that is an engineering marvel to witness its function. With killer good looks and a price to move, this Thunderbird will not last long, so please call soon.

      <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/ford/thunderbird/1962/listing/234774</link>
      <description>1962 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop

For consignment, a 1962 Ford Thunderbird hardtop with a title verified 148,975 actual miles. Bullet birds, thanks to their sleek design, lend themselves to customizations, like this fully custom car. If owning one of a kind is on your bucket list, this one will do the trick!

  Exterior
Can't miss Lime Green paint brightens this bird and is augmented by wildly reflective side trim on the custom side spears, hood stripes, and c-pillar trim, all bordered in red. A custom sculpted plate fronts the hood scoop and three velocity stacks face forward from an oval opening. Custom mirrors, bullet fronted door handles and window trim, recessed torpedo tail lights, all part of this feast for the eyes! The grille also features bullet details between dressed headlights and the 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are complex works of art with bullet hubs, reflective inserts, and red line trim on white wall tires. The rears, however, are shrouded by the lime green fender skirt. Finally, faux side pipes add a stretch of chrome to the bottom. The paint, trim, and custom features are in great shape and we could not find any exterior imperfections.

  Interior
More of that turned metal reflective trim occupies an insert in each door, surrounded by white vinyl panels and a black carpeted lower. White vinyl also covers the bucket seats and rear 2+2. It's bullets galore on the inside where there might be more full metal jacket trim pieces in here than in your gun safe, and these little chrome cones create a reflective sparkle in back and in the front where they sprout on the dash and center console. The rainbow reflecting turned metal trim is everywhere as well, including the steering wheel, accented with lime, and the gauge cluster, also featuring lime rings and buttons under a white dash pad. An AM radio and CD player are present along with added gauges in the center, while black carpet is protected by lime shag mats. Faux black fur is on the headliner with tribble-like hairballs in white and lime scattered throughout. Wild! And more attention to detail with lime rails and LED lights overhead. The trunk is kept relatively conservative with clean black carpeted mats and a spare white wall.

  Drivetrain
Beautifully customized with lime and white paint plus anodized gold trim, here we have a show quality 390ci V8 with three 2-barrel Holley carburetors over an Edelbrock intake. Behind it resides a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission sending power to the Ford 9" in back with 3.00 gears.

  Undercarriage
Spotless and clean underneath, not a surprise! We have dual exhaust that runs through Magnaflow mufflers and terminates under the car. Power drum brakes are at all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. No rust, no oil, no road dirt.

  Drive-Ability
There are two ways to get instant notice in a car, sound and color and this one brightens up Morgantown the minute it leaves the mall to circle our test loop. The three carbs work together to deliver a smooth ride, and the car sounds nice as it accelerates forward, tracking straight and offering good turn-ins with its low center of gravity. Functionally, the A/C and clock are not working but all other operations do as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This is an incredible custom build that is ready to hit the show circuit to collect its oohs and aahs from an adoring audience. Even if you're not a Thunderbird fan, this one will stop you in your tracks with its quality, coordinated touches. If you are a Thunderbird fan, this is one nobody else will have and will stop you in your tracks every time you open the garage door.

      <description>1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

The Thunderbird and the Corvette have a long and sorted history, with both initially competing for the same customer space. Eventually the Corvette went to racing, and the Thunderbird became the boulevard king. The ultimate getaway car from the kids with a two-seat configuration (rear seat is there but covered by cowlings) with a convertible cruiser, it became the "it" car for early 1960's suburbia. With design queues courtesy the jet age, its bullet like front appearance, and jet engine taillights was keying into the upwardly mobile middle class, and growing suburbia.

Offered for sale is a 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible in bright white for the exterior and silver blue vinyl for the interior. 1962 was the second production year of the third generation of T-birds. Of the total production for 1962, 75,536 units were produced, only 9,844 were convertibles.

  Exterior
A respray of white for this bullet shaped model with a white convertible canvas top, presents in good overall condition with a few notable small tears in the top. The mechanicals for this pop top are a marvel of engineering, as the whole long expansive trunk section, and the top become involved in the up and down operation and storage. A paint matching Sport Roadster Tonneau is attached to the back of each bucket, and swoop from the headrest to the rear deck, creating an aerodynamic "bat mobile" look. Chrome and bright work are correct, and in fine shape. Wide white sidewall tires wrap original chrome spoke wheels, which have knockoff hubs. 3 chromed faux jet intake appliqués adorn each exterior rear quarter panel and add to the jet look.

  Interior
Silver Blue vinyl, original to the car is seen, and is in full glory, with very nice bucket seats in front, and a bench in the back (although covered by the bucket's rear headrests and Sport Roadster Tonneau). A sleek console makes its way to the dash, and houses the vinyl covered console glove box, and ashtray. Horizontal ribbed aluminum snakes its way up to the dash, and proceeds to spread out from side to side over the dash front, and houses the heater and air flow controls, light switches, logos and a very cool swing away steering wheel. Above this are 2 silver blue vinyl winglike structures, (can you say bird?), that form the padded dash top. A speaker, radio, and 3-gauge cluster is within these swoops, and all appear in excellent condition. Down low on the passenger side of the dash is an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. Power windows, power steering, power driver's seat, and power brakes are installed options.

  Drivetrain
As true for any restoration, plenty of attention has been paid to the engine bay. It has been fully restored, and the engine rebuild took the liberty of painting some black on the block, blue on the air cleaner cover, and adding a pair of chrome valve covers. Nice supple shiny hoses and wiring abounds here and the original FoMoCo windshield wash bag hangs in there on the passenger's side. Specs are a 390ci V8 fed by a single 4-barrel carburetor. A 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission is bolted to the back which sends power rearward to a Ford 9" 3.00 geared rear.
 Undercarriage
Plenty of factory undercoating and rustproofing bathes the undercarriage and is rust free. Rear leaf springs are the rear suspension, along with power drum brakes. Up front, more power drum brakes are on along with an independent coil sprung suspension being here too.

  Drive-Ability
To the test track I fired this bullet bird up and shot through the gate. Here it has nice acceleration, smooth shifting, and good handling with only the factory AM radio being nonfunctional. This is a very cool car which makes the driver feel very cool, especially since you can have the top down in the middle of winter if you so desire. Nicely preserved for that Sunday drive to plow through some fossils.

A very cool retro midcentury, last year of a truly iconic convertible, the 1962 offers an opportunity to own an immediately recognized classic for a wonderful price. So why not relive that fantasy of leading the "jet set" lifestyle, driving a "jet age" style automobile, flying around town, turning heads while doing so. Look up in the sky!!!...

      <description>1962 Ford Thunderbird Custom Roadster

For consignment, one of the wildest rides we've had at Classic Auto Mall, and we've had a Flintstone car so you know that's saying something! A highly aesthetically modified 1962 Ford Thunderbirds that is still recognizable as a Thunderbird, but is a long, long way from its original configuration. It's won numerous Best of Show awards and that's no surprise. Let's get into it...

  Exterior
The smooth lines and glass like finish of this car are striking. The high quality paint is deep and aptly named Antifreeze Green Metallic. And like antifreeze, it does have a glow to it. Every inch of the car has been customized in some way including the front where the busy grille of the original has been cleaned up and the hood edge straightened to form a brow over the headlights. But there's enough here to recognize its origins. Gone are the metal trim pieces riding the top of the fender next to the hood. Everything has been melded in a continuous flow of green and no emblems or trim remains. The formerly round side mirror has been replaced with a body matching angular piece, and the door handles have been shaved. More smoothness has been brought to the taillights which are flat, solid red circles that appear to have a bullet protruding. The car is bumperless, but a spare wheel housing craftily carved into the trunk adds some texture. The wild roof, probably the most dramatic feature of the car, is a flowing stretch of plexiglass supported by a handmade stainless steel frame. This bubble top, which hints of the 60's Batmobile, is removable per the consignor. The roof is open over the body-colored fairings. Rat rod style turbine hubcaps continue the drama and the rears are partially covered with a fender skirts. We note one paint bubble near a body line as the only imperfection.

  Interior
Fixed, fin shaped windows top metal paneled doors that match the body color. A swooping ivory design in leatherette accents the door. The bucket seats are decked out in ivory leather with matching green alligator patterned leather. The steering wheel is an amazing crescent design unlike anything we've seen and at its center is a large chrome jewel. The gauge pod is a stand alone lance shaped sculpture with green snakeskin patterned backing and housing two Dolphin gauges, white faced and red needled. The metal dash spills a center console which waterfalls with a series of metal rods that bend and flow past the seats in the center. This is pure show, there are no buttons, switches, cup holders or anything else on the "console". It's simply a work of art. Low pile green carpet covers the floor where we find pedals that have unique metal plates with designs embossed within them.

  Drivetrain
The block and valve covers are painted bright red and the engine bay is very clean. It's where we find a 390ci V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and connected to a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Power is met in the rear where a Ford 9" exists with 3.00 gears. Power drum brakes are supplied front and rear.

  Undercarriage
Essentially driver quality underneath with areas of surface rust, some oil on the rear diff, and some general road grimes. We note two areas of previous patching on the rear unibody. Dual exhaust leaves the engine independently then enters two MagnaFlow mufflers and dumps just before the rear axle under the car. Coil springs are found in the front independent suspension while leaf springs handle the load out back.

  Drive-Ability
We eased this low car out of our garage and onto the test loop. We dare not enter the town of Morgantown because it might cause a crowd to form. We stayed on our flat terrain and tested all of the functions. It cruised nice and everything that's left on the car such as lights and turn signals work. Then we brought it back inside before word got around town.

Are you looking for a turnkey show car that will fill your den with trophies? Do you want something so unique that no one else has anything close? Then this is it. This is an absolute show stopper and a must have, especially if you happen to fancy those 60's Thunderbirds which even in stock configuration, are cool. This antifreeze colored T-bird is so hot, it takes cool to a new level!
