I have only driven this car a short distance, but I was really impressed with how it performed. The chrome, trim, interior, exterior, engine compartment, trunk, and underside are all beautiful on this car. There isn't much that I can point out because it is in great condition. The convertible top we just replaced and it looks awesome. We also had Rich's Custom Upholstery go through the interior. They repadded the seats and freshened it up. When Rich pulled the carpets up, he found that the floor pans needed to be replaced so he did that. This is a show car now. The knock off wire wheels help set off the look of this car. This is a factory air conditioned car. Here in the Northwest it's hard to get anybody to repair air conditioning on old cars. ( I have looked at many 1970 Jaguars for sale, and only found one with power steering and no factory air. ) Another great feature is that it has power steering. How often will you see an XKE Jag, with air conditioning and power steering? The previous owner had this car in his possession for about 13 years. He is the one that did the partial restoration with the paint and chrome. He also did some extensive front end work, replaced the brakes, recored the radiator and also replaced the tires about 2,000 miles ago. He gave us a stack of receipts that go along with the car. The paint color is a really nice shade of maroon with a beautifully restored leather interior; the canvas top was also done with the proper materials. The chrome was restored to a high standard and the engine bay was painted with the same color of the car; as it should. The underside looks great (see pictures) and has a stainless steel exhaust system. Car was restored around 2008 and has been kept in a dry, heated garage since. This is a wonderful return to the 1950's when British sports cars were the envy of the world. This specific example is in outstanding condition and could be driven everyday if desired and if in the right climate. The engine has plenty of power and has great oil pressure, the gear box is smooth and overall, it is just a joy to drive. I set a battery in it and about 95 percent of all the wiring works, minus the radio and backup lights, which are there. The paint has some age, but a guy could rub and have the car looking really good. The passenger quarter does have lifting clear but that's about it. I bumped the starter and it does roll over. All the fluids are up, other than antifreeze and oil, as I believe the only thing keeping the car from running is a head gasket repair. There are only a few odds and ends that keep this car off the road. It would be sweet to see it back out where it belongs. It does come with a factory repair manual and a few extra parts. Overall a relatively nice car that with a week or two of nights can see asphalt again. It was brought back to Indiana where it resides now. As you can see from the restoration pictures to current day, this XK 120SE has been restored with the utmost attention to detail and originality. The owner has accumulated well over $55,000.00 in parts (mainly ordered from SNG Barratt) and also in body and paint work. There's a very long list, but just about everything on the car is new or the original part has been reconditioned. The 3.4 liter, DOHC straight six cylinder engine has never been rebuilt and is showing 48,591 original miles. It runs beautifully with no issues. The 4 speed manual transmission and the rear end both have been professional rebuilt to factory specs by Pettitt Professional Auto in Ohio. The suspension has been completely gone through with all new parts. The shocks are new as well. Electrically, all the original gauges have been beautifully restored to near perfection. The wiring harness has also been replaced with new. The generator has been rebuilt along with an upgraded new starter. All brake lines and fuel lines are new. Driveshaft and U-Joints are also new. The manual steering is nice and tight because the gearbox was completely rebuilt. The Dayton wheels are new along with all wheel cylinders and associated brake parts. The tires are relatively new with only 3,000 miles on them. The red interior leather and the beautiful red carpeting are all new from SNG Barratt. The exhaust is new stainless steel and it sounds very nice. The engine bay is highly detailed back to a new and original appearance which also includes a new aluminum radiator.
