      <title>1980 Nissan 280ZX</title>
      <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/nissan/280zx/1980/listing/235276</link>
      <description>1980 Datsun 280zx Coupe

For consignment, a 1980 Datsun 280ZX coupe with a title verified 67,244 actual miles. This is a one owner car and although Car and Driver touted the newly arrived T-Tops for 1980, this car is a hardtop coupe with 5-speed manual, often the preferred configuration by enthusiasts.

  Exterior
We were still in our 70's earth tone day in 1980, and this car is dressed in single stage Mahogany Metallic, an esteemed member of the brown family. Never mind that Mopar was playing with Impact colors, Datsun stuck with more conservative choices and it looks great on this long nosed sports car. In profile, it can be confused for few other cars and the 14-inch wheels with 70 series tires and a late 2024 date code, are visually connected by a finned rocker panel and topped by wheel opening trim. Sporty accoutrements includes the twin ducts on the hood with black grates that match the cowl, and a grated, aluminum B-pillar that looks like something out of Star Wars. The rear window faces the sky and ends with Datsun's iconic tail light design over a razor straight bumper. In front, the inset headlights are pure sport and head up a wind defeating nose. This fantastically preserved car shows only minor ghosting in the paint and a few chips for exterior imperfections.

  Interior
Tan vinyl door panels include window cranks and a modest armrest and both doors present cleanly. That condition prevails throughout the interior including the bucket seats that are immaculate. The soft, plastic steering wheel is a testament of the times and fronts a clean black instrument panel housing clear gauges, augmented by the racy three meters to the right, canted towards the driver like a race car. A vent panel tops a Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette player with extensive equalizer next door, because that's how we rolled in 1980, and you didn't have to be a sound engineer to operate it. Brown plastic surrounds the shifter in the center console where a bit of patina is noted in the change holder, while the tan carpet and brown Z-branded mats are in nice shape. An overhead console is situated in the perforated vinyl headliner, all in good condition.

  Drivetrain
A relatively clean engine is found in the bay and it's a 2.8 liter SOHC inline six cylinder putting out 132 horsepower and fueled via a Bosch L Jetronic injection system. The coveted 5-speed manual transmission backs it up and sends power sports car style to the rear axle with 3.36 gears.

  Undercarriage
Nicely preserved underneath with some typical surface rust but no errant fluids noted. Power disc brakes find all four wheels and the single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler before exiting discreetly in back. Suspension consists of Macpherson struts up front and coil spring with semi trailing arms in back, where it's also independent.

  Drive-Ability
We step back in time and enter this cabin and its analog glory, grabbing the period shifter and period steering wheel and circling our test loop in this now vintage sports car. It does everything well, from straight tracking to handling to stopping on the proverbial dime. We note the radio doesn't work, (darn), and the power antenna does not do it's thing but beyond that, this Japanese wonder mobile's functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Wow, what a time capsule! Our neighbors had one that brings it all back. They were way cooler than us and if they still own it, they're still cooler than us, and what a find this is! A one owner, low mileage, stock example of one of the great sports cars in history. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about it because this ZX is likely to become an ex-resident here at the mall in short order.

      <title>1983 Nissan 280ZX</title>
      <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/nissan/280zx/1983/listing/234624</link>
      <description>1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo Coupe

For consignment, a 1983 Datsun 280ZX turbo coupe showing 60,917 miles, but the true miles are unknown. While the 2+2 turbo coupes are more rare, the regular turbo coupes are more desirable and less than 8,000 were produced in 1983.

  Exterior
Cadet Blue over Fox Silver Metallic was one of the two tone colorations available in 1983 and proved to be popular. The blue sandwiches the silver which dominates the side panels and rear of the car. The silver headlight coves are obscured by smoked covers which provide a more streamlined nose. T-tops are the roof of the car after which it slopes downward meeting a large rear window on a hatch that terminates abruptly on the vertical flat tail. The tail lights are unmistakable on the Z and twin tips exit on the left side. 15-inch turbo wheels have the iconic Z logo on the center cap, each wrapped in 205/60R15 tires. The hood has an offset NACA duct with louvered vents on both sides and a slight bulge in the center. Coveted Turbo emblems are present on the front fender and rear decklid. Overall, the exterior is in great shape, with imperfections noted as some clear coat issues on the wheels and some minor bubbling on the front spoiler behind the fog lights.

  Interior
Smooth silver door panels are met with a blue carpeted base and is in keeping with the two tone theme of the car. The silver leather seats are wide and flat, more relaxing than racing, and are in very good condition with some typical compression and wrinkles on the pilot's side. The steering wheel and its angular spokes speak to the times, and this is magnified by the leaning boxes that make up the gauge cluster and the digital readouts replace analog dials, reminiscent of arcade games of the day. Three round gauges in the center dash are canted sharply to the driver and indicate oil pressure, volts, and clock via digital numbers while an AM/FM/Cassette player is found in the center. We find the shifter in a plastic base just behind a turbo plate and ahead of a change cup that shows some patina. The rest is in good condition and a low pile plush blue carpet covers the floor with carpeted mats on top that have seen some shoe time. In the rear hatch, blue carpet makes another appearance in a space that has a lot of room, showing some exposure but intact and the plastic walls show some slight patina but are presentable.

  Drivetrain
Datsun's 2.8 liter SOHC turbocharged inline 6 cylinder engine is under the long hood and is rated at 197 horsepower, about 50 more than the naturally aspirated version. It's fuel injected and put into motion via a 3-speed automatic transmission which sends rotations back to the rear axle and 3.54 gears. We would classify the busy engine bay as clean.

  Undercarriage
Driver quality underneath with not much surface rust to talk about but some residual oil throughout, with some of it drifting to the rear on one side and on the rear differential. The single exhaust makes its way from the engine, down the length of the car, and into a stock style muffler before exiting under the bumper. Independent suspension is found in front with Macpherson struts and in back with semi trailing arms and coil springs. Four wheel power disc brakes are supplied.

  Drive-Ability
If you're not a fan, you just haven't experienced one. Even sitting in the cabin elicits some excitement. Start the inline six and she comes to life with a healthy sound, but far different from the gaggle of muscle cars we have on hand. Quieter, we dare say, more refined. Anyway, the car has good power and tracks straight, but we do note some very soft suspension, so put that on your list. Beyond that, all functions on this well made car operated as they should and we zip this Z back to the mall to find a good spot for it. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

If you were a child of the 80's,(Class of '83, perhaps?), and your friend's parents had one of these, they were the cool parents, bar none. Because this car was cool then and it's cool now. The Z profile is iconic and now rare and desirable. Get back to the digital age and get a closer look at this '80's car for the cool kids. Now available for cool adults!

      <title>1981 Nissan 280ZX</title>
      <link>https://www.hotrodhotline.com/forsale/vehicles/nissan/280zx/1981/listing/225152</link>
      <description>1981 Nissan 280ZX

For consignment, a 1981 Nissan 280ZX with a title verified 60,296 actual miles. With its long pointed nose, short sloping rear, long wheelbase, and flat rear fascia, the shape is undeniably distinctive, ever present on the roads in the 70's and 80's as daily drivers, they are now highly desirable collectibles. This one presents in original condition with areas that will need some TLC, and other parts that will need nothing.

  Exterior
Brown was still quite popular in the early 80's, evidenced by the Light Brown Metallic on our car which even colors the covers of the inset headlights, a key field mark that adds to its uniqueness. A ribbed rocker panel trim piece adds some contrast as does the polished B-pillar trim and 14-inch wheels. The long hood is enhanced by a center bulge flanked by black vents matching the plastic cowl grille. From behind, there's no mistaking the 3 color tail lights over a straight bumper and at the base of the flat hatch window. Side body molding is a remnant of the 70's and 80's and prevented door dings, but also cut through the smooth panels of the midline. And the panels on this car are straight, the paint is nice, and the metalwork is in good shape. Where it shows its age is on black painted parts such as the door handle surrounds, the emblems, and the front window trim. There's also clear coat and oxidation issues on the wheels, but from 20 feet, you couldn't tell.

  Interior
Beige and tan door panels are nice compliments to the exterior brown are in decent condition with some light, general patina. The bucket seats have aftermarket covers and so do the 2+2 seats in back. The brown steering wheel is in great shape and wears a "Z" emblem, all leading to a sizable instrument cluster with essential gauges and idiot lights in a symmetrical descending pattern. More toward the middle, we find additional gauges, (and digital clock), coved and canted towards the driver in a race car inspired design. Below that, the standard A/C panel and a nickel backed AM/FM/Cassette radio panel, framed in brown plastic. On the dash itself, a fitted cover protects the sun exposed surface that has some telltale cracks. In the center console the shifter takes its place and once again, it's metal over plastic. The beige carpet is nice in the footwells outside of the brown rubber mats, but in the cargo areas it's a bit soiled. But this cargo area also has loose and cracked material on its walls and some staining of the plastic, along with some wear on the weatherstripping. The headline on this solid roof car is in good condition.

  Drivetrain
With a body matched cam cover in the engine bay, we find the driver quality 2.8 liter SOHC inline 6 cylinder rated at 145 horsepower. Fuel is regulated by the Bosch L-Jetronic EFI system and a Jatco L3N 3-speed automatic transmission is behind it, sending power to the rear wheels and 3.54 gears. Power brakes are onboard as front discs and rear drums.

  Undercarriage
Aged and dirty, but we've seen worse. We note some oil on the oil pan, some dampness near a brake line, general grime on the knuckles and rear diff, and both boots of the rack and pinion system are torn and detached. A single exhaust carries a stock style muffler before wrapping behind the gas tank and finding a chrome tip. Independent MacPherson strut suspension is supplied front and rear.

  Drive-Ability
It was the daily driver that felt like a race car, and it still does! The low seating position, the long nose ahead, and that rear wheel drive is a recipe for good times. The car is a quick starter and the automatic does a good job at putting the power down, propelling our Z through its pace where it tracks straight and handles great, even with 70 series tires. All functions work as they should and we steer this aerodynamic classic back to the showroom. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

She's not perfect, but she's got fantastic bones and can be driven while being restored, or simply enjoyed as is for years to come. Personally, we would not hesitate to take this to shows, cruise ins, or cars and coffee, it's that uncommon and that special. Seems like yesterday that they were "just another car" on the road. But they have bloomed, like Cinderella, and are the belle of the Japanese ball! Do you have the glass slipper that takes it home?
