This was a beloved gift to the consignor's self in celebration of retirement and as a result, was garage kept and well maintained.  It will come with a car cover and windscreen.  Exterior Our car is finished in Polar White which does a great job of blending with the chrome accents that include the grille trim, hood vents, 18-inch wheels, window frame, and door handles, while contrasting perfectly with the black canvas top, tires, and grille inserts.  A reviewer described the front as a boxer with his chin out and that's a great visual, as the headlights are set back while the lower valance leads the car.  The long nose, compact cab, and short, rounded tail is classic sportscar and the side fender vents and accompanying body contouring add aggression and style.  Fairings behind the seats borrow from far more exotic rides and the single reverse light low on the rear valance is something else you might see on high end hyper cars.  The canvas top is in great condition and has a glass window between extended buttresses that flank the fairings.  Imperfections are limited to a touched up scratch and some minor scraping on the chin.   Interior Simple black door panels have concave inserts that provide some elbow room in the cab and are accented with chrome door pull handles.  Sporty, black cloth seats exhibit aggressive side bolstering and seat support amongst its stitched panels.  Sporty is how we would describe the thick leather wrapped steering wheel as well mounted on a wide column that leads directly to the gauge pod in front, inset deep in cylindrical gauge housing and surrounded by molded and textured plastic on the dash.  The center stack is the control center with climate controls, radio with CD, and digital display screen.  From there, shiny gray paint covers the center console that houses the shifter surrounded by a plastic chrome frame.  Low pile black carpet covers the floor, and the small storage trunk is finished in gray cloth covered panels.  Everything inside is in very nice, almost new condition.   Drivetrain Under the hood is a clean 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine, fuel injected and rated at 177 horsepower.  A 5L40E 5-speed automatic transmission backs it up and sends power to the rear axle with 3.91 gears with limited slip.  Power disc brakes are supplied on this sportscar.  Undercarriage No runs, no drips, no errors!  The underside is clean as can be with typical surface rust and little else worth noting.  The CV boots look great and the single exhaust retains its original muffler then exits flush with the rear valance.  An unequal length double wishbone suspension exists at both ends, with short/long arms or SLA.   Drive-Ability Autoblog was spot on.  The car handles great and feels balanced and sure footed.  It's got plenty of power which always feels a bit magnified when you're lower to the ground.  As expected with such a well kept car, every function we could test operated as intended.  While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  One of the most underrated cars to come out of GM in the past 20 years, we hear nothing but praise for Sky's and when you get behind the wheel, we, like automotive journalists at the time, wonder why these weren't more popular.  The beauty is that people use these for pleasure vehicles and as a result, often turn up with low mileage and high levels of care.  That's what we have here in stunning white. Integrated side markers flow with the flat rim of the wheel openings and a forward canted vent behind the front wheels apply some character to the car and the wide polished windshield frame provides some extra bling and a touch of richness. The twin swellings behind the seats, fairing like, are a good looking feature that doubles as the tonneau for the stowed top. That top, in black canvas, is in great condition and has an extra layer of insulation inside for quieting. The plastic window follows the contours of the humps, while the top goes on to form canvas buttresses that track over the tonneau. The body terminates in a rounded butt with wrap-around taillights and a linear assembly of the antenna, third brake light, Saturn logo, license plate, and reverse light. 18-inch wheels house 45 series tires and look great. Chin scrapes are the only exterior flaw we noted. Interior Simple black plastic door panels have inner panels that suck in toward the door, allowing for a bit more elbow room and easy access to the armrests. Tall backed black leather bucket seats sit low beyond the sill and have sporty side bolsters to help keep you upright in turns. A very neat and clean dash presents to the occupants beginning with the leather wrapped steering wheel, well proportioned and also sporty. Three gauges face the driver in deep cylinders while the center stack is familiar GM territory, assembling large-knobbed climate controls over a substantial radio control panel with AM/FM and CD. A glossy silver center console shows off the black leather-booted shifter, trimmed in a chrome ring and a comfortable grip. Low pile black carpet covers the floor and inner footwells and looks almost new. Gray cloth covered panels finish the trunk which has limited capacity, especially when the top is stowed. Drivetrain Under the reverse hinged hood, we find a clean 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine putting out 177 horsepower to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited slip differential with 3.91 gears. And it's modern, so power disc brakes can be found at both axles! The engine bay is uniformly dressed in black plastics and is user friendly for general maintenance purposes. Undercarriage Clean as you'd expect for a rain free 17k mile car. Typical surface rust on uncoated parts including the single exhaust which travels down a ravine in the middle created by side belly pans and a long series of metal plates that houses the driveshaft. The original equipment muffler is in back and exudes a single tailpipe that exits the contoured rear valance. Short/long arm suspension, (double wishbone), occupies the front and rear independent systems. Drive-Ability Morgantown is blessed with windy roads through forested hills and farmland, but we'll just have to curb our enthusiasm because we're limited to our flat test loop for now. Even around flat turns, the chassis of the Sky is stiff and balanced. The car is not slow, but it's also pulling nearly 3,000 pounds with the 177 pounds so we'll call it "adequate" power. Braking is on point and because of the low sitting position, blind spots prevail with the top up, but with the top down, you guessed it, the Sky's the limit! Handling and the open air experience make this a pleasure to drive. Oh, and everything works as intended. The trunk however doesn't stay open on its own when posted up, and the right side is stubborn to latch when you close it. This seems to have been a common issue with the Skys as the thick waterproofing rubber seals cause some consternation. Look! In the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's...a Sky! A modern roadster with a stick shift and a striking design, not to mention low, low miles, means that this car has many more stories to tell, even if they are only written on weekends. Exterior Sinister black is seen draping all the panels on this car's exterior, and all appears in like new condition.  A black colored cloth convertible top is fully operational, albeit manually, and keeps the blacked out theme going just perfectly.  This fast little bean shaped aero car sports a few throwbacks to the classics.  One that is very obvious would be the rear deck bump ups that begin as headrests then slowly get thinner where they die before the rear spoiler.  The other is a vertical vent v-cove in the front quarter just behind the wheel well, which harkens back to the early corvettes.  A vented hopped rear spoiler, and low front opened bumper/chin splitter are also seen.  18-inch chrome wheels wearing the factory installed tires are noted all around and give this car an even more sporty look with the larger wheels. Interior Lowering the top, we can examine the interior, which is draped in charcoal black leather with white stitched bolsters and molded in headrests, and black inserts emblazoned with embroidered white SKY logos.  The door panels carry over the same motif and appear virtually showroom new.  A simple 3-gauge cluster barreled curved eyebrow shaped dash fronts a two toned black and red leather steering wheel, and shows RPM, speed, and temperature analog gauges.  The center of the dash presents climate controls, and an AM/FM/6 disc CD radio with a 6 speaker audiophile's dream sound system.  A chrome trimmed and leather booted shifter is within the center console along with the parking brake.  Sport alloy pedals hang above black carpeting which floods the floors.  Power driver's seat, ABS, power mirrors, power locks, and power windows, plus air conditioning are installed options on this car. Drivetrain A 2.0 Liter inline 4-cylinder EFI engine, topped with a turbo charger can put out 260hp.  This coupled with the 5-speed 5L40E automatic transmission and you'll have plenty of power to get you where you need to be.  Turning the tires on the back end is a 3.73 geared limited slip rear axle.  Undercarriage All showroom like new nary even a hint of road dirt.  All independent SLA suspension, and power disc brakes, with a clean rust-free OEM exhaust.  Just a beautiful presentation underneath. Drive-Ability A quick starter and drives like it's on rails.  A great performer and even with the top down the interior remains virtually silent!  All working functions and comfy interior for a small sports car with stellar performance.
