Classic cars have made a big comeback recently, and Legacy Classic Trucks, a Jackson Hole, WY based auto restoration company, means to extend that trend to other vehicles as well. Their latest effort has focused on 1950s Chevrolet NAPCO 4x4 pickup trucks.
According to Motorauthority.com, who took a close look at Legacy's superb work, the company begins with a pre-existing Chevrolet or GMC 3100 and then "rebuilds the truck to match the configuration of an original NAPCO 4x4, albeit with all-new components where required. A new frame is installed ... and where possible Legacy works with regulators to transfer the frame VIN from the original donor to the new frame, in this case a fully boxed TCI 2x6-inch setup."
Period-appriopriate materials are used to restore each truck's interior. While these trucks are not truly vintage, since they begin life as models other than the NAPCO 4x4, one wouldn't realize it to look at them. The care and detail with which Legacy has restored and upgraded them is breathtaking - and make no mistake, they have been upgraded! In addition to the frame, the suspension, brakes, transmission, and much more have benefited from modern technology.
The starting price for one of Legacy's NAPCO 4x4s is roughly $135,000, but since the company offers so many different options that figure can vary widely.
