The 2012 Collision Repair and Refinishing Class renovated a C4 Corvette using products from
Mid America Motorworks
Effingham, Ill. (October 24, 2012) – The Collision Repair and Restoration Class from Lincoln College of Technology enlisted the help of Mid America Motorworks and PERFORMANCE CHOICE to completely restore a C4 Corvette as their 2012 class project. Bill Zimmerman, Senior Regional Director of High School Admissions, recently stopped by MY Garage Museum and Retail Store to thank the crew at Mid America Motorworks for their contribution and to show off the finished Corvette.
Zimmerman’s class bought the burgundy C4 Corvette in January of 2012 with the intention of restoring the sports car. Zimmerman used the Corvette as a hands-on tool for teaching his students a variety of processes and techniques for restoring and refinishing cars. The student’s completely disassembled the car and sanded it down to bare essentials. A fresh yellow paint job with a pearl finish, new seals, parts from Mid America Motorworks and an interior from PERFORMANCE CHOICE brought the car back to life. Each student who worked on the Corvette had the opportunity to sign the inside of the hood, marking their contribution to the project.
“We truly do produce some of the finest automotive technicians in the world,” says Zimmerman in regards to the automotive graduates of Lincoln College of Technology. “They are highly sought after in our mutual industry but it is their determination and motivation that causes that success.”
Zimmerman, like Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader at Mid America Motorworks, believes that passing on the passion of the automotive industry to youth is very important. The C4 Corvette has visited many high school vocational programs to share the value of the automotive industry with young students. Zimmerman and his class plan on brining the finished C4 Corvette to Corvette Funfest 2013 in Effingham, Ill. Sept 19-22. The students will be able to share their story and contributions they made on this exciting project.
Lincoln College of Technology is celebrating its 50th year in Indianapolis this year. The college offers both diploma and associate degree programs in automotive, diesel, collision repair and refinishing and electrical systems technology. Lincoln College of Technology also went through a 5year accreditation review this year and was granted the title, College of Distinction.
