After many years, I finally got my '32. I’ve wanted one since I was in high school and just never got around to buying one. I’ve had many hot rods and muscle cars over the years, but never a roadster.
My wife came home one day and said she saw a roadster locally with a for sale sign on it. At the time I had three cars: a '48 5-window Chevy Truck, a 1967 GTO and a '73 Super Beetle. So I really didn’t have room for another car, but went by to look at it.
Green is not normally my color, but it grew on me and the reactions I get are amazing. I noticed the sign said 'possible trades.' I talked to the owner and traded my Chevy truck for the roadster. It was hard to do, beause the truck was a fine cruiser - but like a kid in a candy store, I had to have it.
Once the deal was done, I started fixing things up that were not done right. Many screws were not polished stainless, I hated the wheels on it, and the list goes on; I also wanted a supercharger for the car because the engine area looked so vacant. After much searching online, a car guy friend said he had a buddy who had an engine with a blower that might be for sale. Called the guy and he had a special built 350 with a B&M supercharger. I took it to Houston Engine and Balancing to get a dyno test to make sure it was built right. Jeff Toman, the owner of the business, installed the engine on the dyno and away we went. Engine topped out at slightly over 550 ponies and I was happy - way more than I expected! It will be the next phase on the car, then some subtle pin striping to top it off.
A long time coming, but oh so good!
