Mojave Mile SCTA Speed Weekend A Success

Mojave Mile SCTA Speed Weekend was an event put on by SCTA to help soften the blow of the second consecutive cancellation of Bonneville Speed Week due to unsafe conditions at the Salt Flats.

The Speed Weekend took place on California's Mojave Mile, which is considered the fastest mile in the West.  Participants raced against the clock with a standing-start, flat out speed race.

The Weekend consisted of races both Saturday and Sunday, Saturday's being from 8 a.m. until dusk and Sunday's from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.  The top speed reached on Saturday was 216.4 mph, and the top speed on Sunday was 232.9 mph.

See a video of Frankie Sloan reaching a speed of 184 mph at the Mojave Mile here.
