 We start off this week with some very sad news. Good  Friend and Editor of Street Scene Magazine, Joe Mayall, passed away this past weekend. Joe was visiting friends in Las Vegas when he apparently suffered fatal respiratory failure   Joe has many friends in the rodding community and he will be dearly missed.  We always looked forward to seeing him at the NSRA shows and whenever we were in So. Alan Grove Components has been making specialty brackets for years ... Due to the renewed interest in nostalgia motors we have designed a bracket for the 401/425 Nailhead Buick. Steel bracket mounts to the intake and water crossover manifold, two groove water pump and crankshaft pulleys are required for this application. For more details click here

If there is a single part of the ignition that can holds some mystery to its operation, it is the coil. In a stock ignition system, 12 – 14 volts are delivered to the coil via the positive and negative terminals. Within the wink of an eye, it sends and output of 15,000 volts or higher! But there is no slight-of-hand taking place here – it’s all a carefully crafted lesson in electronics. And one that can be tuned to meet a variety of output requirements. MSD Ignition has a nice little article that will tell you more.

There’s no place you’ll see more rod and custom legends assembled than at the Darryl Starbird Hall of Fame Ceremony. This years Inductees were Gary Howard and Jerry Kugel. The Designer’s Hall of Fame inducted Yosemite Sam Radoff of Canada for his design and artistic ability. For more details take a look here
