  Very Sad News today.... we have just heard that Rodding Legend Barry Lobeck has passed away after a long battle with cancer.    Our condolences go out to Ginny and all of Barrys family.  He will be missed by all of us in the rodding community.  We’ll post any information we receive about services as soon as we hear.  For more info look here.   

Hotrodhotline always starts off the New Year with a morning trip to  “T” Willys   New Years Day get together in Boise,  This year it was a chilly 8 degrees but that didn’t stop the rodders in Boise from turning out.  It was a great way to start off the New Year with friends.   Take a look at our newest Roving Reporter’s  efforts at the show.

One of the biggest safety issues with our older cars is inadequate headlights. The lights and lenses were designed when 35 or 40 mph was fast. Now we are always overdriving the stock lighting. Even if you have upgraded to Halogen bulbs, the lights are still not up to modern standards because the light must pass through the cloudy stock lenses with inefficient optic design. Welder Series Boxing plates are designed to box from ahead of the front crossmember to behind the rear crossmember. STOLEN CAR ALERT ....Southern California.. We had two reports of stolen cars in So. California over the New Years weekend... this  60 Chev was taken in Granada Hills, CA ... the other car, a 34 Ford was taken and luckily it was recovered in a Body Shop where arrests were made.  For more details and contact information look here.

EUROPE’S FIRST DRAGSTER IS 50 YEARS OLD   First showing of restored car with re-created engine is at Autosport International 2011 marks its 50th birthday and the show is the start of a year of celebrations. The car is Europe’s first dragster and is owned by the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.   More here

If at all feasible, McCarthy's description of what he does for a living may even be more cryptically understated.
