Compu-Tronix Distributorless Ignition System.
Why DIS? Standard distributors distribute a spark to each plug in turn, from a single coil. At higher RPM’s, they cannot charge and discharge the coil fast enough to deliver a full charge to the spark plugs. The DIS6 solves this problem through the use of three 45,000 volt coils charging and discharging in turn, allowing each coil sufficient time to charge and discharge a full spark.
