Most Bonneville enthusiasts don’t realize all of the work that goes into putting on this legendary event each year.   There’s more than just showing up and racing ....  and that’s an understatement ...  In addition to all of the planning and arrangements .. the salt has to be prepared  and the track readied ... no small job.  All is done by volunteers  ...  and friend Ron Main sent us some pictures taken when the volunteer team headed out this month to survey the situation and get the salt ready.   Take a look here...

IEDLS has  redesigned the drive shafts for the 1958 though 1964 Chevrolets to be compatible with today’s more powerful engines..
The photo to the left shows our stock replacement shaft set. It uses the stock, 1.25 inch bearing stub. Since these are no longer available, we reproduce them using 4130 steel. This set also features the 7075 T-6 center support bearing we designed and manufacture. In addition this set comes with a telescoping rear shaft to absorb length changes caused by suspension movement. The OEM design previously allowed for this movement but has proven to be too weak for the power of today’s engines. Take a closer look here

On June 16, 2012, at the recently completed, 85,000 square foot, Fairplex Conference Center.  Over 400 hot rodders gathered to help, landspeed racing pioneer, Alex Xydias celebrate his 90th birthday.  He began racing on dry lakebeds of the Southern California desert in the 1930’s.  He opened the first So-Cal Speed Shop in Burbank in 1946.  In 1949 Bonneville Salt Flats were opened for landspeed racing, Alex and So-Cal Speed Shop were there.   Check out the festivities here
