Costa Mesa Classic Car Show
Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Costa Mesa
Costa Mesa, CASunday, June 30, 2013
On June 28, 2013 the City of Costa Mesa began a 3-day festival celebrating their 60th anniversary. The Classic Car Show was staged in front of the City Hall on June 30th. Adjacent to the car show was the Festival with product vendors, food vendors, art, and several bands scheduled to occupy the 3 stages. Saturday night Eric Burdon & The Animals returned to a Costa Mesa stage. The car show stage featured The Catalina Island All-stars Band.
Sunday morning temperatures were in the low 70’s with clear skies. The cars began to line up at 9:00am and were parked at 10:30am. Dave Parker, a photographer wandered by. Larry Urey was by far the most animated exhibitor at the car show. He brought his ’35 open wheel Indy 500 race car. Steve Casey was there with his ’67 Mustang. Al Smekal drove his ’68 SS to the show and his wife Marie brought her ’72 red Corvette Stingray. The day was perfect and the tree lined site and cool ocean breezes made for a fun afternoon. The show was well organized and had a good variety of vehicles.
