Gilmore Museum

Coming here is like going to a family reunion; but, the one that you really want to go to. Think of the nine barns as the limbs of the family trees and the displays as individual family members, when you look at the pics you may better understand. This museum started as a hobby idea back in the 1960’s and has blossomed in a jewel in the Midwest and of the car hobby. My initial interest was the American Legends; Hotrods and Customs display along with the incredible art work of Tom Fritz. These murals are at least 8 feet high and the detail is incredible, but also are the grounds that have matured over the years that I have come here. The original barns that hold the exhibits go back to the 1800’s and were disassembled, moved, and reassembled on the site, obviously not a small feat in itself. Added most recently are the Franklin Collection and the Model A Ford Museums, both looking like dealerships buildings from the 1930’s. Under construction is the Lincoln Museum and soon a Cadillac Museum. This museum is well worth the trip to see. Enjoy the pics!
