The Last Saturday Night Car Show at the Chatterbox
Augusta, New JerseySaturday, September 28, 2013
Well it looks like this is the last car show at the Chatterbox here in Augusta, NJ for the rest of the year. However it was quite a show. Well over a hundred cars attended the event. The restaurant section was quite busy with a waiting time of over a half hour at certain times – busy place.
As usual, the parking lot overflowed onto the grass and an adjoining parking area. Traffic control was fun. One of the outstanding vehicles at this show was a 1955 Chrysler Imperial Convertible, a one of a kind car. Owned by Chip Lorie, this car is a masterpiece. It was build for the Chairman of the Board of Chrysler in 1955 and was a prototype vehicle. It is the only '55 Chrysler with a specially designed curved windshield different from the standard one and the first with four bucket seats around. The green and white interior and top was done by Jerry Ambrosia (Masters Upholstery) also in Augusta. This car really drew a crowd.
Also present was a very subtle Pro Street Porsche that had a huge blower sticking through the hood. I couldn't find the owner so I do not have much detail on this one except to say that it was a definite eye catcher.
Many other outstanding vehicles were in attendance as you will note in the photos. With the coming of the cold weather, I think we will be planning on continuing these shows here at the Chatterbox next year – might be a long winter!!!
