World of Wheels Milwaukee

It’s been cold and snowy in Brew City this year, so hot rodders were ready for a “cabin fever party” at State Fair Park when the World of Wheels came to town on Feb. 21-23. Though it wasn’t on a raised platform like the Ridler Award and Legend Cup cars the Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio crew was on hand near the door, giving out its handy listing of annual car shows that everyone wants to get a copy of at the start of the year and the first big car event in the Badger State.

For some reason, the 2014 Milwaukee World of Wheels had particularly strong showings of Pontiacs and racing cars.  Local hot rod cubs like the Losers (who really are winners with their shiny rides) and the Cheaters (who favor the not-so-shiny traditional style coupes and roadsters) were out in force again.

The show featured every type of special-interest vehicle from custom semi trucks, tractor pull champions and dragsters to track roadsters, Tri-Five Chevys, Mopar muscle, Mustangs and a couple of Wisconsin-built AMC products. There were several Batmobiles there, including one from the TV show.

Guest stars over the weekend included “Danielle” (Colby Cushman) of “American Pickers,” wrestling super star Shawn Michels, and Shane Harper who is “Spencer Walsh” in Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie” movie. Rounding out the headline attractions were the traditional hot rod Motorama, the Pinstriping Legends competition and the Dance & Fashion Show.
