Temecula Rod Run
Temecula, CaliforniaSaturday, March 8, 2014
The Temecula Rod Run is hosted in “Old Town” Temecula, California each year in March; this year I attended the Temecula Rod Run on March 08-09, 2014. When a shows' leadership you never know how it's going to change. Last year the folks who were orchestrating the show announced they wouldn't be doing it any longer as they were moving out of state. The continuation of the show itself was questionable, but fortunately a combination of support by the City of Temecula and the efforts of the Drifters Car Club kept it going, and then some. As much as the car show in previous years was really good it is MHO that this years' show was substantially better in all aspects.
Starting mid-day Friday Temecula locks down Old Town from Arch to Arch to allow pre-1970 classic beauties to “run wild”, including a Friday night cruise down the main street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday the weather was summer-like in the low 80's; the Show & Shine had over 700 cars in attendance from near and far, including out of state. There was a very large public attendance, and with the town as a background this show was a definite hit.
As in the previous year, I had an opportunity to revisit my prior hot rod (1931 Model A) and Robert, the current owner. It was great to see my former car, see the changes he's implemented and discuss what the future holds in store the car. We'll meet again next year when I attend the 2015 Temecula Rod Run......hope to see you there.
