1,200+ Rods, Big Crowds, Mark NSRA’s Southeast Street Rod Nationals Plus
Tampa, FloridaFriday, October 10, 2014
Sunny skies greeted participants and show-goers alike as the National Street Rod Association’s (NSRA)’s Southeast Street Rod Nationals graced the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa on October’s second weekend.
And what an array of rods, customs, restos and see-it-to-believe-it rides greeted them. Final participant vehicle count was over 1,200, with a lot of pre-’48 iron joined by ’49-later customs and cruisers, and more than a few chrome-bumper-equipped ‘60s-vintage musclecars.
NSRA’s annual Tampa event is also the “season opener” for the outdoor show scene in southwest Florida, as the summertime heat, humidity and rains gave way to perfect cruising weather, and many of Florida’s wintertime residents made their annual trip to the State Fairgrounds following their annual migration from Up North.
Along with the dazzling show field, NSRA’s Southeast Street Rod Nationals Plus also featured a packed commercial exhibits building with a model car show and “make and take” sponsored by Revell, a women’s world/craft fair, and a swap meet and car corral with enough drivable and project-ready cars, parts, and automobilia to give any rodder perusing the aisles plenty of ideas.
Want in on next year’s event? The next NSRA Southwest Street Rod Nationals Plus is set for October 9-11, 2015, once again at the Florida State Fairgrounds--at I-75 and U.S. 301. in Tampa. Get complete event information when you log on toi www.nsra-usa.com.
